New driver, improved fps, but:-

Featured Replies

I recently installed the latest ATI Catalyst 4.3 drivers which has resulted in quite a substantial and welcome improvement in fps over my previously installed 3.5 drivers, however I also seem to have aquired some not quite so welcome side effects:-1) Gauges are very blurred and impossible to read.2) Shimmering scenery textures, primarily trees.3) Flashing aircraft textures, but only from tower view.My grapics card is a now ageing Radeon 8500 128mb (seems like only yesterday it was the best available)Could someone please suggest some settings which might help me, and also which settings are best adjusted from the ATI control panel and which are best done from within FS.Many thanks,Pete

Hi.I had same problem with Cat4.3 (Blurred text and gauges).I tried all, but without success.I revert to Cat4.2. (I didn't see any performance increase after installing Cat4.3 in relation with Cat4.2).I can post my settings, but [email protected]

Did you uninstall the Cat 3.5 drivers and the control panel before installing 4.3?If the problem appears for everyone who's using a Radeon 8500 then it might be a bug in the 4.3's...

Hi all,I have a Sapphire Radeon 9000, and I have problems with Catalyst 4.2 and 4.3.The main problem is that building and plane textures "cycle" from dark to very bright luminance at 5-6 Hz frequency. I have seen on another forum a short video from another ATI R9000 user, with the same behaviour.I wrote an email to ATI describing this problem when 4.2 came out, got no reply, and hoped on 4.3, but this "feature" is still present. For now I have to stick to 4.1, and this is a pity, because ATI announced 4.2 as a big improvement for DX8 cards like mine, and surely I had a small FPS increase (and maybe less stutters), but I just can't resist seeing those flashing objects.CiaoFrancesco Romeo

To report bugs or problems with ATI drivers (not for support), fill in this form:http://apps.ati.com/driverfeedback/index.aspRemember, the more people that report a problem, the more likely they are to fix it, where as problems only reported by a few users get lower priority.

Thanks for your replies guys, sorry it's taken me a while to get back.To answer the question about uninstalling previous driver and control panel, yes I did. I don't understand why but turning off T&L appears to have stopped the flashing aircraft textures when viewed from control tower. I never tried any of the releases between 3.5 and 4.3 and don't know whether they are still available or not, I'll have a look this weekend. Thanks for your interest,Pete
