  1. Hi all,I have a Sapphire Radeon 9000, and I have problems with Catalyst 4.2 and 4.3.The main problem is that building and plane textures "cycle" from dark to very bright luminance at 5-6 Hz frequency. I have seen on another forum a short video from another ATI R9000 user, with the same behaviour.I wrote an email to ATI describing this problem when 4.2 came out, got no reply, and hoped on 4.3, but this "feature" is still present. For now I have to stick to 4.1, and this is a pity, because ATI announced 4.2 as a big improvement for DX8 cards like mine, and surely I had a small FPS increase (and maybe less stutters), but I just can't resist seeing those flashing objects.CiaoFrancesco Romeo
  2. ----CUT----> but if they could join forces that would>definately not hurt.Hello all,I'm italian, and as most people here I fly on IVAO, where it is possible to find many controllers online at italian airports.A few times speaking with the local IVAO staff I told them my opinion, that our hobby is currently suffering from the lack of a common environment to fly online, doesn't matter if subdivided in many "flavors", just like the IRC protocol, that is in use in so many different networks, and all can be accessed by the same clients, and there are many of them the user can choose. My opinion is that if the online flying networks managers don't agree on a common and published protocol, using an open source approach, in a few years there will be no online flying anymore, due to the lack of software.RegardsFrancesco Romeo
  3. Hello all,in FS2004 (as was in FS2002) there us an "interesting" problem with a caribbean island, St. Barthelemy. It looks like that all the island is put in the wrong coordinates, that is moved slightly to the north and west, or better the coastline and roads only are in the wrong positions, while the airport and mesh is at the right coordinates. Here is my question: do you think there is a practical way to "shift" to the southeast to the right position coastlines and roads?problem: the island is at the intersection of 4 LOD cells, as you can see from the attached images. If you look in detail, you will see that the road now north of the airport has a "bend" that should actually go around the airport, if coastlines and roads would be moved at the right place.CiaoFrancesco Romeo
  4. Hello all,I'm affected like most of you by seasonal CTDs, and being italian mine is due to the wonderful "Italylandpack" land class made by Francesco Mandelli.I tried to set the texture to "Med", but I still got a CTD approaching Aosta (LIMW) today, sorry I forgot to save the situation. My impression regarding these crashes is that FS9 uses lots of RAM, and in various cases, mostly with add on land class sceneries, it excedes the physical memory size of the PC and it crashes. Try loading any of those situations that cause CTDs with a memory manager active and see for yourselves. Now the problem is: is this a memory leak, that is a bug that is to be addressed by MS, or it's just that the memory requirements to handle complex land classes are 2GB of RAM?happy new year, and let's hope it will be ayaer of Peace.Francesco RomeoMy config:Athlon XP 1800+, 512MB RAM, 80 Gb HD, Pietro Mauri's Italy Mesh with slider 85%, Italylandpack by Francesco Mandelli, ISD airports
  5. Hi Markus,I did some other research yesterday evening, and it looks like on my system (I use FSUIPC 3.11 not registered) when visibility is below 1000 it returns to the default wheather theme. If I press End then Start what I see is that first all wheather is cleared, then after some seconds it changes to the preset wheather theme. If I go to another airport with 1000 mt vis and do the same (pressing End and Start) after a few seconds I get the fog. It doesn't depend, as I wrongly suggested, on the presence of the RVR info in the metar, I tried also airports without this indication.CiaoFrancesco
  6. Hi Markus, after one week without internet connection, due to a problem of italian telephone company, I'm back, and I think I've discovered a bug in your METAR decoding.I see you are waiting for the upcoming release of ActiveSky 2.0, so I don't know if you are gonna improving your application, which looks to me anyway very good and perhaps enough for people like me very tight on budget.back to the bug, tonight here in north Italy there's much fog, except in FS9 meteo driven by FS2k4METAR. Why? I think italian METAR place in a position you don't expect RVR data.Let me show an excerpt from METAR file FS2k4METAR downloaded tonight (20031118_2100Z.TXT)LIRA 182115Z 03003KT 7000 SKC 14/14 Q1025=LIML 182120Z 00000KT 0100 R36R/0650N FG OVC001 09/08 Q1027 NOSIG=LIMF 182120Z 00000KT 0100 R36/0275N FG OVC001 03/02 Q1028=LIMJ 182120Z 06010KT CAVOK 14/12 Q1026=LIME 182120Z VRB02KT 0300 R29/0325N FG VV001 09/08 Q1027=LIMC 182120Z 00000KT 0050 R35R/0300N R35L/0300N FG OVC001 07/06 Q1027=If you go to LIRA it's OK with some haze and no clouds, but the same apply if you go to LIML or LIMC, where visibility should be almost null.If you need it I can send you the whole METAR file.CiaoFrancesco
  7. Please excuse me, but where is the last version, which connects to noaa server? I don't see any attachment to this message.Francesco
  8. Hi Markus,i think you can go directly to http://www.sourceforge.net to create the project. This site hosts the cvs system to work collaboratively on sources, and many other utilities to keep the project under control. Then you can ask for help of other programmers, even I think on this forum, or other FS sites and mailing lists.CiaoFrancesco
  9. Hello Markus,I tried the reg file and I have to say it worked OK for me. At home, I don't have Internet connection now, but yesterday night I tried your program using one of the files you included.I have 2 questions/suggestions:1) When the program updates meteo it writes a few messages on screen, often they arrive one after little time than the previous, and this causes something like a "black screen" for a moment in 2D view. Anyway I find all those messages not useful, so maybe could be better to have the first and last message only.2) It seems to me there is a problem with visibility settings. When I used "Go to airport" menu I got a 0 visibility, instead flying from an airport where the visibility was "unlimited" it remained unlimited for the whole flight, even at the destination where from the metar file there was some fog.Anyway this can become a very good freeware program, with just some improvements on your side, thank you.On a more general side, in the readme you say you can send the source code on request. Why don't we make this an Open Source/GPLd project, getting some space on Sourceforge, and looking in the FS community for programmers?CiaoFrancesco
