New Pilot client available!!! Squawkbox is no longer the standard!

Featured Replies

Hi all, since I still saw nobody reporting this I thought I should inform you that the new pilot client software from Flightproject.net is available. After a non-successfull introduction in beginning december a complete rewriting of the unstable server software was necessary. This has been completed now together with some new enhancements to the pilot and controller software. What I can tell you from my first test flights is:-absolute smooth display of other pilot fellows (even smooth enough for formation flying)-working TCAS-integrated new voice system with superb voice quality-near real world flightplan page with support of slots and flightplan checking routine.-smooth as silk handling. Simply loadup FS, host a multiplayer session and press shift-tab...done. Your are ready to go online by pressing one more button.Since this is still another open beta phase to test the software (which will hopefully not last very long, since the closed beta was very intense this time), there are some functions not available. This include online weather (but you can use your own weather program) and the enhanced controller client (will be available in a few days). This also means there will be only few ATC available during flight, but you can get a perfect view of what the pilot client can do for you. All missing functions will be implemented successive within the following few weeks. So if you want to test this great client, simply go to www.flightproject.net and download it!Also if you simply want to check whats going on the network read this post (http://fpi.globalgamer.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=64) in their forum to integrate the test network to your Servinfo. But please read the manuals and the forum, since the pilot client uses peer-to-peer connections during flight, people with routers/firewalls need to make sure they open and forward the port range 15000-16000.Have a look and decide on your own. The software is great and you could be the traffic. All the best and GreetzLars

Very interesting. Thanks for the info :)

Very interesting indeed, have to check that out. Thanks for the heads up, Carlos.

Interesting. It works with VATSIM/IVAO I assume? The other thing I don't see and I use regularly is the FMC in SB. Does this have one? Thanks for the heads up.Shez

Nice, I'll have to check it out, but does anyone knows if it works with VATSIM/IVAO?Thank you,Bruno Francescoli.

It works for IVAO but is not authorised (and believe the server wont work) with VATSIMRegardsRussell Jourdain (NZL007/ZK-RHJ)

Hi all,as far as I know the client as well as the new controller client work only on the flightproject-network as the server software - which is the base for all enhancements - is not implemented on the other networks. Maybe other networks get into contact with the developer when they see the great features in action, but I would not bet on that. But I was told from the developer that the controller software is also already finished and ready for release. He just waits releasing it until next weekend as he wants people to have time to play around with the pilot client without destroying fun to controllers ;) The new functions, especially the smooth display of other pilots, bring people to just sit at an airport by helicopter and watch others landing or taxiing around as this really looks great. So just play around as a pilot to get yourselves comfortable with that software and next weekend you can also fly with ATC coverage. All the bestLars

Oh, here one little screenshot of something that happened yesterday. Please bring to your mind: These are all online pilots not ai traffic. Next time I hope for some pictures of some parallel approaches. Should be great.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/59509.jpg

Hi again, unfortunately thats true. The new client software needs a complete new server software which makes it incompatible to other networks. But to add a positive news to that bad one: As the pilot client is very stable with very few issues to solve after this first testing weekend, the developer decided to release the ICP ATC controller client update within the next 2 days. This enables also controllers to take use of the new network. Actually the active members are called to vote right now if the new network system should replace the old one much more sooner than planned. When the new controller client is released I will post some screeners. Features include the rendering of the german used P1 controlling system (but with some things needed to be more simplified for simulation). -editable flightstrips-sending and receiving flightstrips from other controllers-multiple airport windows can be opened-broadcasting messages-Flighttracking-auto ATIS updateAlle the best and greetzLars
