The positions get updated each 1/4 seconds so that you will get a very slew aircraft moving.SB2 gets only each 5 seconds an position update, in the meantime it is interpolating the position and this is the lag problem you mentioned above.cya

"ATOC is creating a pear2pear connection between Pilots within a ~40nm range"This 40nm P2P raises interesting questions like: How do you going to manage FS2002 and FS2004 clients at same time. The commutation between planes, the behavior of multiplayer under constant heavy loads etc. I disagree with the term "old" applied to FSD and SB approach it's just another way, proved reliable Sunday after Sunday with heavy loads. After seeing IVAO videos it seems that they go for the same approach. Let's see how things evolved.Jos

ATOC is managing the P2P multiplayer connections and so it is also possible to see in FS2004 a Pilot with FS2002.Well, the FSD Servers used by IVAO are based on a technology from 1997. Well, sure you can adapt things, but do you use Win95 with the latest updates or Windows XP if you can?

Hi Jos

Is it possible to use ATOC with IVAO and what I have to configure in the ATOC for that?Andre

>Is it possible to use ATOC with IVAO...Simple NO, also not with VATSIM. To use ATOC you will have to fly on FlightProject ( http://www.flightproject.net ).cya

Hello>I even do not agree that FSD has proven to be reliable. I>remember a lot of times when the controllers were not able to>see any aircraft anymore or were disconnected because of>server overloads or lags or anything else (as a pilot you only>recognize lags when you are disconnected but not simply when>server ping rises, only ATC directly "feel" the result of>this). I have to think in terms of years when I remember my last disconnection due to lag.Yours,Martin Georg/EDDFVACC-SAG PR & Events Coordinator *** mailto:[email protected]http://vatsim.pilotmedia.fi/statusindicato...r=SAG01&a=a.jpg

To be fair personally I don't use VATSIM or IVAO or FPI because of the client but because of the people. I choose VATSIM and try to support the network with my limited knowledge of programming however too believe that the software should be made available to all networks.Jos

>While I applaud Stefan>Widdau for his efforts and his achievements with ATOC I

Hi Martin, how can YOU say that Stefan Widdau has no serious intentions to offer his software to VATSIM. In fact VATSIM simply refuses to use his software because of ideological reasons and not because its a bad software. Why do the reps of every network wants the source code of such software??? I personally can understand it if a programmer wants to keep the source code of things that he wrote. Isnt it enough that the software itself is offered for FREE to all networks including VATSIM?Its simply the same reason why IVAO doesnt wants it. Every network in the world which has the intention to use this great piece of work can use it, simply write to [email protected] and it will be possible for them. And second I see to problem in changing the server software to support the FPI Controller program AND your ASCR as well as the FPI ATOC and SB3. If VATSIM would allow to join Joels and Stefans and some other programmers effort to create a common standard for them all would win, but what I can see from other postings in VATSIM forums VATSIM simply wants to create its own "thing" even with the cost of having such software later and maybe being worse. For me thats sometimes childish.EDIT: I think that the fact that Stefan wrote the ANVS (aviation network voice switcher) to make it possible for all people in the world to fly on all networks whereever they want, shows that Stefans intentions are always serious!!!

Let's see how SQBox 3 does in terms of fluidity...I believe the most important thing in a network client is low network resource consumption, low PC resource consumption (let's not forget people with slower pc's like me),no lag at all if possible and realistic flight plan capabilities.I really don't need weather,as like most users I use external weather program,I don't need FMS and things like taxiways and parking positions and stuff like that.Let's get to the essence of one thing and not overload these clients with unnecessary things.

>how can YOU say that Stefan Widdau has no serious intentions >to offer his software to VATSIM.Lars, beleive me.

Martin, maybe you should use your words more carefully! Saying that Stefan has no serious intentions is something completely different from saying that rules from VATSIM were unacceptable for him!Having no serious intentions implies that he is lieing when saying he wants to offer his software to everyone who wants it.If you want others to know what they are talking about you should stop working on you policy to keep certain information under the curtain. From my -uninformed- point of view the programming of ANVS shows good will from Stefan. If you want it to be viewed in another light...But I personally would ask myself if I were Stefan, if I would still be in such good contact to you, if you on the one hand talk with Stefan very often and on the other saying in the public that he has no serious intentions. Sorry, but I would call that no serious intentions from your side! But I will stop discussion and will better show some pictures of the new ICP 2.0 when available, so people can have a look themselves, instead of getting a bad idea of Stefans intentions.
