'P4 3.0' or 'AMD64 3200+' for FS2004 & 06

Hi All,I am about to retire my 4 year old Dell PIII 866Mhz and build myself a new box of tricks. My question is WHAT to go for ?AMD64 3200+ OR P4 3.0Ghz (they are both within my budget)I will put a 'Gig O Ram' in to the new machine, but will have to use my old Graphics Card which is a 128Mb Ti4200, which, to be fair has been great. This will all run with XP Pro.Your guidance is welcomed,Thanks in anticipation, and Happy Flyin...Eddy

I would go for the 64 bit processor, just because of future expansion capability. Thats just me, of course :)

Definitely go with the A64. If you can wait a month or two, the new Socket 939 A64's and the Nforce 3 250 motherboards are gonna be out - definitely will be more upgradable and better performing than the current socket 754 A64s...Ryan

Eddy, Reconsider your graphics card. With the new ATi cards out you can get a great deal on the older but still outstanding ATi 9800 pro.... Upgrading to this card from a Nvidia GF3 made the biggest improvement in FPS and image quality for me outside of a full CPU/MOBO upgrade. I believe your card will hold you back otherwise.JayDub

They will be released on May 25th, but only in very limited quantities (which means a not so limited price) until 4th quarter of this year.

Well I say you can get great fps with a Geforce 4 ti-4200 and you don

Hi Guys,Thanks for all your comments. Thought this might prove a difficult one.....Have to do some more thinkin I guess on the Graphics. Is it likely in the arrival of the 6800 Ultra that the 9800XT will come down in price ??If so, I might be well positioned in a couple of months...?Still welcome your feedback.RegardsEd

Yes the 9800XT will drop like a stone since it has been way overpriced since release really. the 9800 PRO I don
