Featured Replies

What are the latest or best Drivers to use with the NVidia5900FX Ultra? I have a 3.2ghz machine with this card, and 1 gig of RAM. I should be getting better than 20fps. Anybody got any idea of what drivers I would need to help imrpove this? In the 1st pic you can see what version I am using right now. Thanks for your help folks :)Kobie :-wavehttp://www.eaglesoftdg.com/Staff/Uploads/KP.jpg[bR][bR]http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/83706.jpg[bR]http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/83707.jpg[bR]http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/83708.jpg[bR]http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/83709.jpg[bR]http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/83710.jpg

Here are the changes I would suggest, settings I am using and quite happy with the results. In weather settings:Reduce cloud draw distance to 80Reduce 3d cloud precentage to 60 or soIn display settings:Go to 1024x768x 16bit (hard to tell the difference)Mipmap to 4Global Max texture size down a couple of notchesThose are a few things that are hitting your system hard. You will gain a bit, with out loosing hardly anything visually.Harry

I have the same video card as you in a 2.2 GHz system with 1 gig of memory. I get about the same FPS as you except:Terrain mesh is set at 100Terrain detail: Land and WaterWater effects: LowDawn/dusk texture blending is unchecked.Extended terrain textures is unchecked.Autogen density is Very DenseAircraft and Weather settings are the same as yours. Hardware settings are the same except Mip Mapping quality is set to 5 and my target frame rate is set to Unlimited.I also changed my Terrain settings in the FS9.cfg file as recommended by fellow flight simmers and discussed extremely thoroughly in the Flight Sim Hardware Discussion forum located within this forum. There are some excellent tweaks listed there too. You just have to do some reading (I found it all very interesting!).Personally I have no problems with my FPS going down below 15 once in a while. A lot of people watch FPS constantly. As long as it's not crashing or freezing the system, I can live with some stuttering.I AM getting a new system next week (hopefully) from Dell. It will be at 3.6 ghz with one gig of memory and contain the new PCI Express ATI X800 XT video card. I'm anxious to see what it does to FPS but I don't expect it to work miracles with FS2K4. Lastly, I just upgraded my video card drivers to the WHQL approved 61.36 version. They can be found on guru.com.Hope this helps and good luck with your FPS.JimY

For starters lower your Mip Mapping to 4 or 5.Also, running in 32 bit is FASTER on newer generations of cards. 16 Bit is for old cards.See you in the fence...CYYZ

Hi, The mip map leave it a 4, ( more then 5, you loose performance for nothing) this slider should not be changed. Clouds draw distant more then 50 mile is not worthed anyway.Your AA antialasing more then 2 or 4, t will decrease peformance when there is clouds in the sky with Nvidia cards.I get better performance then you with my system O5 2.5 ghz 533 hz,512mb ram 333hz, p4p800 8x, gforce4 Ti 4200, 1024x768 32 bits, shadows disabled, all fs2004 at full setting expect clouds draw distant to 30 mile. Clouds % to 100%, cloud density to max.My system is tweaked for no running bad ressource program. I recommend to read this and apply the tweak.http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...069&Product=gmshttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/83755.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/83756.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/83757.jpg

Clouds % to 100%, cloud density to max.-My system is tweaked, latest chipset driver, latest bios, no software running for bad ressource. I recommend to read this and apply the tweak. http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...069&Product=gms-I have Disable the windows XP System restore (you can enableddisabled without restart), Disable remote assistance ,Disable remote desktop -I recommend to check in your Bios, your AGP Aperture and check if it is set to 128 or 256mb.

Dang, ya learn something every day reading these forums. 32 bit is faster on newer cards? I would have thought less work, faster graphics! Something I'm gonna have to try! If it works, I thank ya!Harry
