New Computer Help with FS2004

Featured Replies

I have a new computer. I had FS2004 installed on the E drive in my old computer. The old operating system was XP Pro and so is the new system. The drive was formatted in NTFS. I installed the drive into my new computer as the E drive again. I installed FS2004 on my new faster C drive and wanted to copy the scenery, gauges, aircraft, etc. from the old drive to the new drive. The files are all Read Only and I can

IIRC Bob XP by default shows files as read only but you can still copy them. I have just tried copying one of my add-on scenery folders to another drive and had no problem even though it was marked read only. Are you sure you are logged in as Administrator or at least have administrator rights?HTH

Hi Bob, i'm in the same situation, new system and don't want to re-install my whole FS kit'n caboodle.I wanted the HD from my old system,on which FS is installed, in my new system anyway. If you have no success yet with copying your files you might want to try this :Move your current FS folder to another location. Install a fresh FS (minimum )on the same location your current FS was at. Check if it works. Then move the newly installed FS folder to another location and move back your old FS folder to where it came from. Delete the new FS folder. Works fine for me.Only ###### for you of course, you cannot change drives. It's a great way to keep all your current FS add-ons to still work though.Jan
