August 22, 200421 yr Im using a GF4Ti4200 and Ive used the up to date drivers from the Nvidia web site! I found this site http://download.guru3d.com/detonator/ that has differant drivers for the Nvidia cards. What should i use? ForceWare or Detonator driver? Ive never used these before!
August 22, 200421 yr the best answer is to "suck it and see". you have to bear in mind any answer given in here may not be the best answer for you as each system is different. i rate open GL performance as important so my choise of drivers have to work well with this. I use the WHQL 45.23 drivers (from the Nvidia site), these give me the best performance in Open GL. i have tried all drivers from MSI (my board maker), Nvidia and a few "beta" drivers from the last few years and these work best for me. it may only be a coincidence but these are also the last WHQL drivers made for the G4 ti series before the FX series came out, so they may be optimised for this whereas the later drivers are optimised for the FX and laterly 6800 series.
August 22, 200421 yr Forceware is only the new name for the official drivers previously known as Detonator. So if you ARE using Detonators, you're using some really old driver set and probably missing out on some good optimisations that have taken place as the drivers have developed. My own personal recommendation, based on testing all the official and beta drivers is that 61.77 is about the best around on my system. Your mileage may vary, but try the 61.77's, 60.85's, 56.72 and the 45's recommended above, then stick with the ones that work best. As I have changed my mobo, chip and RAM recently, it was noticeable that the new drivers made more of a difference on newer systems. You will also need to remove all traces of old drivers when going between 4x.xx and 5x.xx series drivers, and especially 5x.xx to 6x.xx, which is when the name changed to reflect new methods in the driver files. I use Driver CLeaner 3 also form the guru website to remove old drivers after uninstalling, and that works well.Do not use the 65.62's. These beta drivers DO NOT WORK with FS.Hope this helps.Allcott
August 22, 200421 yr I'm using a ti4200 as well and am having very good results with the official 61.76 drivers, off the nvidia website. Great performance and very good 2XAA visuals. My settings: 1280x960x32 resolution with 2xAA and 4xAF.AA disabled within FS9. Bert
August 24, 200421 yr I had the 61.77 for a while but a couple of weeks ago installed the 62.20 - which work very well with my T14200- no earth shattering improvement over the 61.77 but slightly better smoothing- a frame or two increase in fps.Dave
