Hei Stian.ATI do not antialias textures with alphachannel very well. That's why ATI cards are superior in AA performance comparing to Nvidia card, wich Antialias EVERY type of textures. My guess: the fueslagetexture have alphachannel.Jan Roar R

Hi Stian,I have the same card but haven't seen this "defect" on any of my airliners. I don't have the jet shown in your pic. However, for anyone to make a recommendation as to how to get rid of it, you'll need to furnish more info such as:Have you installed the latest ATI drivers (4.8 or 4.9)? Mine? 4.9What are your AA settings? I have mine set at 4 using the driver settings, not the application. What are you AF settings? I have mine set at 16x using the driver settings, not the application.I also have T&L settings checked in FS2K4 and use the Trilinear Filter.I have Mip Mapping set to max and Hardware Rendered Lights to 6. These settings are most important and maxing the Hardware Rendered Lights will cause a lot of scenery problems (at least for me). I believe you need to tweak these two settings the most to get the best image quality for your system. If you haven't done so already, I would suggest going to the FS Insider site and read the info concerning display settings for additional info: http://www.microsoft.com/games/flightsimulator/insider.asp.Also look at the suggested settings in the Optimization Guide issued by OneTinSoldier within this forum. If this doesn't solve your problem it could be a repaint issue with the airliner. In that case you'll need to contact the designer of the repaint.Lastly, make sure you have the latest version of Direct X (9.0C).Hope this helps and good luck fixing your "problem" (gee, the airliner looks good to me!).Jim Young

You need to add the mipmaps back to the textures. Non-mipmapped textures do not alais with any video card. Mipmapped textures alais just fine. Get yourself DTXBmp utility and open each texture and add the mipmaps back. I do this with all downloads. All flightsims are designed to run with mipmapped textures. Performance is much better with mipmapped textures and mipmapped textures look way better. Matter of fact all games/sims need mipmapped textures to work properly and look good with decent video cards. Apparently Nvidia cards have trouble with mipmapped textures. Don't know if it's just their drivers or their hardware that causes the problems. That's why you see so many non-standard non-mipmapped textures with third party downloads. Good thing adding mipmaps back is no big deal for those of us with video cards that can properly use them. It has nothing to do with alpha channels.

Hi All!I have a question but it's a little off this topic. I have the ATIX800pro. I had to settle with this card because at the time of purchase, the X800XT were not available in Canada. I would have to wait a month to get my video card. I said No, that would just put a lot of flights way behind schedule (They looked at me funny!). :( Anyway, the question is; I heard the X800pro could be flashed to XT. How do I do this? Is this hard to do? Should I go back and trade in my X800pro to x800xt? Will I see any real gains in doing this, other than a lot of money?A really confusedKittiex:)~ Hi Philip! This system is: AMD 64 3500+ 939 ASUS A8V Deluxe with wifi GCorsair TwinX1024 3200 XL Pro 2 36gig W.D. If you have a X800 PRO VIVO it can indead be flashed to a X800XT because those are really X800XT video cards. If you have a plain simple X800 PRO it get much more difficult and it won

Hi Kittie,I have one of the X800 Pro VIVO cards and have softmodded it to an XT PE. See my sig.You first must determine what card you have. Two things to look for on the card (you can check for these by simply removing the left side cover of your case. No need to remove the card from the AGP slot):1) A yellow connector (looks somewhat like a CD-ROM audio connector) near the power conector on the card.2) The memory modules ID stamp must read "GC16". This is the 1.6ns memory used on the XT PE. If the stamp shows "GC20" your card is a pure Pro and cannot be softmodded. The VIVO also has the Theater chip, though this can be difficult to identify. The above two criteria are enough to establish your card's pedigree.Unless you are certain that you have a Pro in VIVO clothing I recommend that you NOT try the softmod. Many have tried the softmod on straight Pro cards and I know of none that succeeded. If you find that you have a VIVO I'll be happy to get you linked up and assist in any way.Cheers,Greg

Thank youNow I glad I got the case with the window! I do have the memory that is GC20. I guess that solves that. The next question is, would it be worth going to the X800XT? I'm getting great frame rates now with traffic at 100% and real weather, screen at 1280 x 1024.HuggsKittiex:)~ This system is: AMD 64 3500+ 939 ASUS A8V Deluxe with wifi GCorsair TwinX1024 3200 XL Pro 2 36gig W.D. "I'm getting great frame rates now with traffic at 100% and real weather, screen at 1280 x 1024."Hmmm... first thing that comes to mind is, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it".Truth be told that even with your nice system the Pro is not the bottleneck. It is faster than even your fast system. I ran my system with the card as a Pro for a few days, and I've not noticed a huge improvement after doing the softmod. Certainly no more FPS (I lock at 27). IQ is a bit bettter in that textures draw a wee bit faster. The only reason I softmodded is because my Pro was VIVO. I did not know this until after I installed the card. Luck of the draw is all it was.Cheers,Greg

The extra pipelines mainly help with playing at high res with loads of aa and aniso :). Now softmodded X800 PRO VIVO for some reasons are not as fast as X800XT PE even clocked the same for some reason but a real X800XT PE in video card bound games is about 20-25 % faster than the X800 PRO if you compare stock speeds. But you won

"But you won

Yes but with a X800XT PE you would go even higher ;).I said there is a healthy performance increase just that a 16 pipe enabled X800 PRO VIVO at 520/1120 don

"don

So now that you realize you got busted you can sell your X800 PRO VIVO to me for should we call it even at 300$ including shipping :D Anyway get the X800 nVidia aa is teh crappy ;).
