"You can start with explaining what your problem is... "Where to begin? Let's start here:In a post above you wrote, referring to CPU cache, "It do much in gaming really just as much as the dual channel if not more do for the 939 A64:s particularly in games."At it's best this is a rather broad statement. Can you present any tests that can prove that having additional cache (beyond 512Kb) benefits MSFS? In the past few months I've looked and not found any such tests. Yet you advice a fellow simmer, who came here seeking info (real info), in the hopes to make a better informed buying decision. And what you present is your opinion... without any real validation... and without a concern about the eventual real money cost to the fellow simmer. Not a problem for you... it's not your money.A couple days ago in the main FS forum you wrote this priceless gem: "And yeah fps unlimited is no universal trick but works in the majority of cases and is very easy to test." http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...d=212653&page=3Now how do you know that an locking the frame rates at unlimited works in the "majority" of cases? Have you ever conducted a poll on this or any other site? Do you have any real proof do support your claim? Yet you assume that not locking the framerates in this sim is what the "majority" of users do. Take a moment to think about what a newbie would think after reading such a claim. Even Microsoft themselves state in the Learning Center, "For some computers, it may be advantageous to limit the target frame rate." The words "some" and "may" are a long way from denoting any kind of a "majority". Could it be because you believe your system runs better with an unlocked framerate that you think a majority of computers will as well? And finally, this one from last week and is my all time favorite, referring to modded X800 Pro VIVO's that are softmodded to XT-PE's: "don

Lol okay I just overproofed you about the cache thingThen yeah most computers benefit from using the frame rate limiter to unlimited just ask megascenery developers among others. I upgrade often have owned 3 systems the last 2 years all have behaved the same so yeah I think I can say the majority of systems. MS themself seem to think the same since they as you self say that "some" computers "may" benefit from limiting the framerate. That doesn

"Lol okay I just overproofed you about the cache thing"Once again you make a claim without proof. Seems to be your greatest talent."Then yeah most computers benefit from using the frame rate limiter to unlimited just ask megascenery developers among others."Ahh, OK then, since the megascenery developers recommend locking the framerates at unlimited then you have concluded that's what EVERYBODY should do! What about the folks who fly this sim without any such photo-realistic scenery? How about the folks who have chosen to use only high res add-on terrian mesh? Should they too follow your blanket assumption that locking at unlimited frames is correct for them? "I upgrade often have owned 3 systems the last 2 years all have behaved the same so yeah I think I can say the majority of systems."So 3 systems out of the millions of combinations that fly this sim makes you conclude that you are correct about unlocking the framereats? That's simply brilliant!! Great empirical deduction!!"MS themself seem to think the same since they as you self say that "some" computers "may" benefit from limiting the framerate. That doesn

First how old are you? Second you really sound like a troll at the moment.Third this is silly I will post your first reply and then you can go from there if you have any sense you should back off. It

"First how old are you?"Old enough to be your father (and quite possibly old enough to be your grandfather).I've never claimed to be an expert. You're assuming I make that claim (once again you assume something... another great talent of yours).Jeez, Oqvist, don't cry about making a fool of yourself. Just concentrate more on growing up. Gonna be hard for you, but you just might make it.Glad to be on your ignore list. You're not on mine... I'll be following and trying to correct your dribble lest it cost fellow simmers wasted money.Have a day, son.Greg

Thank you for that all I needed to know now I know what level you plays at :)Over and out.

... and so are the days of our lives :-violin ;)Guys, you are both valuable contributers to this forum, and I hate to see it get all tense in here. Please don't make it such that undisputed proof, or reference to an authoritative source, is required to substantiate each and every bit of advice made in a post. A good dose of opinion also helps out, particularly where one's personal experience is perhaps more directly applicable than a sterile benchmark from a non-FS centric website. Let's have a healthy mix of both (more of the latter IMO).Gary

After digesting the very useful information from Par and Soarpics, I gave the computer man 900quid deposit and told him to build me an AMD64 3800+ / ATI X800pro / 1gig ram / 120g hard drive/ 550w psu rig for the end of the month. ( to give me time to change my mind. ) Sure enough, two days later I was back in. Finished up going down to the AMD64 3500+ and up to the X800xt. Now I'm told that the Gigabyte K8N is a good motherboard, but do I take the nVidia nForce3 chipset, or the Via K8T 800, or does it matter? My god, these details make about as much sense to me as Chinese writing. Any advice on the best mobo will be greatly appreciated. ( and if you think I've made the wrong decision, let me know, I've still got time to change it) I'm usually quite positive about the things I do in life, but computers, Jeeez, I'm hopeless.Russell.

If you plan to overclock either get a nforce 3 mainboard or get one with the KT880 PRO chipset or 800 PRO not sure that has a working AGP/PCI lock. Some have some haven

The DFI Lanparty UT nforce 3 is a 754 pin motherboard. Once DFI introdueses a 939 based board they won't be able to make enough of them (they'll sell like hotcakes... sure to be an outstanding motherboard).Greg
