Do I need 1 or 2 gameport sockets for gameport joystick...

Featured Replies

Hi all at present I am useing a non CH joystick with a gameport type plug, I have had the offer of a set of second hand CH pedals with a gameport plug for a very good price, but my pc only has the one game port socket on the back in the sound card, not knowing the ins and outs of these things, will I be able to use these pedals if I buy them, I was thinking that maybe there is some kind of adapter the both pedals and stick plug into, I am correct in my thinking here.Regards nick inthe uk.

Yes I know there has been such kind of devices don

You computer will not support a second gameport, even if you plug in an additional sound card with a gameport.W. Sieffert

But there is adapters that let you share 1 gameport or at least it was. May be just about impossible to find nowadays though since everything has been usb for so long.

So let me get this right are you guys saying that I cannot use a joystick and pedals if they both have gameport plugs.Nick.

Not without a splitter anyway. Although I don

See, that wasn't so tough. You're learning...Greg

Ok thanks guys for all your help, I think the best thing is to stay clear of these pedals, one more question, I would like to get some pedals but have heard the you cannot mix usb and gameport devices, with my stick being game port would I be able to use a set of usb pedals.Regards Nick.

Me learning???I have used a Saitek gameport joystick and USB pedals without a problem So generally it should work. The CH USB yoke don

Nick... Bob Church is the "go to" guy on matters such as this. Here's his site: http://home.att.net/~stickworks/ He visits these forums from time to time. Hopefully he'll be here to assist you. Also, you might find the "Gameport/Analog Drivers Update" (scroll down the page) section of this product review useful. The "DOS programming utility" is something I read about some months ago, and from what I understand it has been refined. Might be some hope there. The testers in the review were able to get the multiple gameport devices to work (though not the same devices as yours), but they did so using a dual boot. http://www.pcarena.com/peripherals/CH/f16u...eport/more.htmlHere's a link and more info on BlazerBruce's DOS Programming Utilty (doesn't apply to the CH products you mentioned, but you might want to peruse the forum for useful info). http://www.ch-hangar.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=324Good luck,Greg

Hi Nick;Par is right about the CH game port pedals not working with aCH usb stick/yoke. (At least according to CH) thought I'd betterthrow that in so as to show its not just my opinion:P However I believe the CH gameport pedals and yoke connected togetherwith only one resulting connection to the PC.I'm on the road right now but I have a set of CH gameport pedalsat home, I'll check when I get back and let you know.DN
