Hi,Have a TI4200 card in the machine, and am using the NVDIA 29.42..seems to work OK, but was wondering if you'all have any other suggestions..I have been away from Flight Sim for some 10 months, so reall do not know whats out there that works well...suggestions will be very helpful....tryin to improve frame rates which are running about 8 to 12 FPS..with all slider almost maxed out. Many thanks to you all !!JimMesa Arizona

Hi Jim,I have a TI4200 128MB AGP8X card and using 53.03 drivers. I've downloaded most of the offical 60 Series drivers but haven't installed them. You don't indicate your other computer components so it is hard to determine if updating drivers is going to improve your system. My system is an Athlon XP 1.8GHz with 512MB of RAM using WinXP Pro. I generally get good FPS (locked at 35) while enroute but start dropping when approaching airports with a lot of AI. Generally, anything about 10FPS is adaquate and doesn't cause stuttering. It is a balance between CPU and GPU limitations. I am presently CPU limited.Other factors that may improve your system are updated motherboard controller chip drivers, more RAM, uninstalling/disabling unnecessary files running in the background, see fsasv1110.zip, defragging your hardrive. See the tip and trick section for tips on cleaning up your computer for better gaming.W. Sieffert

The readme that ships with the default FS2004 recommends 44.67 or greater, so yes, you do need to upgrade! 61.77 or 66.81's are good. YMMV. Try anything from 45.23 up untill you find the one that is best for your setup. Also note previous forum threads about forcing FS2004 to recognise new drivers, advice on cleaning out old drivers and the numerous threads on each of the various drivers.Hope this helps, and please note we do have a specific forum for these kinds of threads - I expect the moderators will move it for you, so don't worry if it seems to be gone.Allcott

Hi Jim,I can recommend the 'nvidia_wxp_omega_16177_7z.exe' driver archive.http://www.filemirrors.com/search.src?file...e&size=18494027I updated my neighbour's drivers recently and he has a TI4200 card like yours. These drivers are good performers and seem very stable. If you wish to learn more about Omega's tweaked nVidia driver variants click on this link:http://www.omegadrivers.netOmega is highly thought of and commands enormous respect by those of us keen to take the hassle out of tweaking drivers for performance and quality. He has a huge following. I own an ATI Radeon graphics card and have been a long time Omega convert :)If you decide to follow the Omega route it is important you follow his installation instructions carefully. I note you are currently using one of Nvidia's own driver sets. Make sure you uninstall the Nvidia Control Panel and the Nvidia drivers via Add and Remove Programs. Omega's drivers come with a Control Panel and will conflict with Nvidia's Control Panel. It's also worth making sure you have cleared out everything relating to your previous driver set and you can do this by downloading and installing 'Driver Cleaner' from:http://www.driverheaven.net/cleaner/This should be run after you have uninstalled your current driver set and the Nvidia Control panel and rebooted into SAFE MODE. It is important to install the new drivers from a clean sheet so prevent Windows from reinstalling drivers by cancelling out of any windows that advise you it is about to do so.In summary, the routine I follow is:Installation of OMEGA DriversN.B. Before Uninstalling and Installing, Close ALL Background Programs and, in particular, close/disable any anti-virus software. 1. From ADD or REMOVE PROGRAMS: REMOVE: Nvidia Display Driver and Nvidia's Control Panel 2. REBOOT into SAFE MODE - Cancel any attempts to install new drivers. 3. REMOVE any residual traces of Nvidia Drivers (Driver Cleaner) 4. UNINSTALL any Setup Files(may not be relevant in your case at this stage) if your previous installation has provided that option (Omega's does) and check Recycle Bin is empty. 5. REBOOT into Windows. (Allow Windows to redetect display hardware and install standard VGA drivers (be patient!) - Wait for message: "Your new hardware is installed and ready for use" 6. Close ALL Background Programs and Close/Disable Anti-virus Software. 7. Run New Nvidia Driver Executable File which will Install Setup Files and New Drivers for Primary and Secondary Devices (if relevant) Automatically. REBOOT. 8. That's it apart from right clicking your Desktop and selecting Properties - Settings, etc. to set up the drivers the way you prefer.Hope this helps.

Heck, we're neighbors (nearly)...I've used the 30.82 drivers since FS2004 was installed. They've always worked very well, and my fps are always in the 20-30 range except around major airports like LAX, DFW, etc.... However, if I enable AI, fps can dip down in a hurry to the 12-15 range around major airports, and the 15-20 range elsewhere when AI is in view. Also, you lose fps the higher you set your res. Having only a P3/800, I learned early on I had to be happy with 800x600x32. But amazingly, it doesn't look that bad IMHO, and it boosts fps by 5 or more vs. the higher resolutions. Other than AI, Shadows and Autogen, I can run with other settings maxed. With the 9.1 patch however, I find Autogen (especially with the XML objects removed) even faster than before and I've been running with it more often especially when flying in GA aircraft. -JohnAvondale, AZ

Hi,Untill recently when I changed cards, I had a Ti4600 and used the 30.82 drivers. By far they gave me the best performance and quality, especially with the negative LOD bias patch (Riva tuner)The newer drivers add nothing for older NVidia cards, at least that was on my system.

Location: Vleuten, The Netherlands, 17.3dme SPL 108.40 | Simulator: FS2024
System: AMD 7800X3D - Gigabyte X670 - RTX 4090 - 64GB DDR5 - 2 x 2TB SSD - 32" 1440p Display - Windows 11 Pro

i use the 45.23 drivers for my ti4600, these drivers where the last written before the FX cards came out, i also use open GL to run a few games that need higher fps than flight sim and all the drivers released since the 45.23 have given me reduced perforrmance in Open GL, these drivers also give be superb visuals in FS9, i also use Riva tuner to fine tune the settings. of the later drivers i have found the 66.81 whql drivers form Nvidia give the best performance after the 45.23s, but these do not have whql for the G4 ti cards.
