ATI Radeon 9800 pro settings

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,I just bought an ATI Radeon 9800 pro (256MB )and wondered if anyone could get me started off on what settings to use with FS2004. There are settings in windows for this card that I've never even heard of and may need tweaking even before I alter the graphics setting within FS2004. If anyone has found a good combination of settings to get the best out of this card I'd be grateful for your help. One thing I have noticed that I found annoying was, on flying over new ground and taking a quick side look from within the cockpit, I noticed big light grey squares where the scenery hadn't been rendered. Although these were rendered quickly I find it a bit annoying because I didn't get this with my previous GeForce 2 card. Hopefully the help and settings you can offer will help overcome this also. Any help gratefully appreciated.Graham SumnerUKRoute developer

Hi GrahamI have a similar card to yours. The "grey square" problem can be partially solved by adjusting your scenery loading time in your fs9.cfg (not sure where will post back tonight or am sure someone here will tell you). I run my card with 2x AA and 8 x Aniosotropic Filtering using the OMEGA Radeon drivers (the ATI ones are not as good IMO). Hi Graham, I fear, without more info, you'll not see much advise coming your way. So, what kind of display/resolution, CPU, RAM-size, etc., do you use with the new adapter? Concerning drivers, if you don't have MSdotnet installed, Omega is a very good alternative to Ati's Catalysts. Personally, I like the UniAn driver too. Good luck and kind regards Jaap

Hi,Did you find this settings for scenery loading time in your fs9.cfg please Adam. This card is driving me mad with this scenery problemGraham

Graham,What you are looking for is TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT in the DISPLAY section.Default is, I think , 40. Try to raise it gradually until it works for you. I have seen up to 400 recommended. I use 80.Regards,Phil
