Which Trackball

Featured Replies

I am thinking of changing from using normal mouse to trying a trackball. I would appreciate any advice on which one is best suited for Flight Sim use.ThanksLaurie

Surely somone uses a trackball with Flight Sim. Please give me information.

Logitec Marble mouse USBBeen using it for three years.Regards,Ed

Laurie -I have been using a Microsoft TrackBall Optical PS2/USB for well over a year now. Previous pointers were also trackball devices but this one is by far the most trouble free of those that I have used. What I like best is the forward and back internet buttons, a wheel for scrolling and the optical sensor for the high-precision ball which is controlled with your thumb. Dust and oily fingers do not effect operation but a periodic cleaning with a damp cloth is recommended. This device would be a great improvement over the normal mouse pointer for general application use such as Windows, word processing and internet use.Now your question asks about the trackball's suitability for Flight Sim use. I am at a loss for an answer to this question. My setup has a CH Product yoke and rudder for simulator flying. To use a trackball as a joystick would be totally unrealistic in my opinion. I would suggest that you look into some other device or devices for simulator flying.Hope this helps,

HiThanks for the information re trackball.I may have given the wrong impression about the use I would put the trackball to. I already use Ch Yoke and I was just going to use the trackball in place of the normal mouse whe setting up the PMDG 737 flight deck which does require quite a bit of mouse work for the switchs etc. It would also save on the wrist ache.I think I may go with Micosoft trackball. Thanks

I have been using a QTRONIX keyboard, which incorporates a trackball, for well over five years and have been extremely pleased with it. Bob DethlefsenSan Jose, California
