  1. What a beautiful airplane. Many thanks. One question. Is there any way to get a VC panel installed in the FS9 version? Thanks again, Ed
  2. HelloThis may be more of a hardware question, but here goes. Is there anyway to get two headsets, plugged into something like a "Y" so both can listen to FS? What I want to do, is sit in front on my computer and fly FS9, SB and have another person (with an additional headset) be able to sit beside me and listen in?ThanksEd
  3. The best is to have Trackir and Triple Head to Go. Use Trackir on the ground, primary for taxi. Triple head to go when in the air. You don't need three full size wide screen monitors. I have a wide screen in the middle and two (one each side of the middle) smaller monitors that I purchased off ebay. IMHO, perfect setup.Regards,Ed
  4. I'll add my thanks as well. A request for Tim to consider. Can you post, on your site, which build equals which SP is installed? If it's there already, I couldn't find it.ThanksEd
  5. Getting back to the original post, yes I think there were two major achievements for Flight Simulator. One was the first GPS and the second was voice capability for on line controlling (VATSIM). When I saw (and got to use) both, it was a new world for serious flight simulator.Regards,Ed
  6. I was wondering if anyone else out there are hardcore IFR simmers. Well, you can count me in.Firstly, how do you manage your weather? I've given up on ActiveSky. It just doesn't work for me. 90% of the time the destination weather is wrong. Instead of 2600' ovc at KGEG I'd get broken at 10k' with 30mi visibility. I use VATSIM and Squawkbox all the time. With REX there's no way to set custom weather. (As far as I can tell) So I've given up on 3rd party weather engines. I checked the box for using REX to upload to VATSIM.How do you set up an effective IFR/IMC situation for your favorite destinations? Any tips or tricks?I use what there is RW today. Real pilots do not enjoy flying in thunder storms, doing min approaches or circle night approaches. Your skill would be to know when to divert to your filed alternate and hopefully you have enough fuel to meet FAA requirements.Do people fly minimums? And what level of instrumentation do you use? If I have to I will fly a min approach. My setup has most of what I need. I do exactly what I did in RW flying (gear down one dot above GS, etc).I used to fly a single prop with dual DME and ILS. That has to be the most challenging. Charles Gulick was actually the one that got me started on that back in the mid 80's. Knowing what radials needed for waypoints, etc... made for great simming. I fly all jets, mostly military.I have some nice single prop's that I purchased a few years ago. The 172 and a Piper. One day I decided to fly from KOLM to KPAE ILS 16L. Since it had a procedure turn I thought it should be a pretty good flight. I can tell you that it didn't go as smoothly as I had expected. When I begin to rely on GPS/RNAV, etc... I seem to lose the touch of shooting ILS manually. Practice, practice. Go on VATSIM and tell the controller you want to do missed approches with published holds. Do several of them and you will find that they get easier over time.Anyway, I'm eagar to hear from other simmers out there about how you do it. There you have it!Good luckEd
  7. Hello and Thanks in AdvanceJust upgraded and I was looking for a FS9 Forum Post on Config tweeks. It was about 3 or 4 months ago. I applied all the tweeks but there was some confusion about something concerning Terrain bandwith or texture size or something like that. Can someone give me a link to these tweeks that were posted? I just want to review them once again. My thanks to the person who did these tweeks. They were an improvement over the original FS9 Config file.Regards,Ed
  8. Great news!Get it working with TrackIR and I will re-buy it from Flight1.ThanksEd
  9. HelloIf you have XP as an operating system and you buy a Creative Soundblaster with a gameport (see Ebay or go to the Creative site) you can get your old set-up to work. If you have Vista and a Creative Soundblaster with a gameport included, you can get it to work by using a driver by Danial K (google). If you have Windows 7 you are (so far) out of luck. I am trying to get my 15 pin set-up working in W7 using Danial K's driver but so far no luck. I have not tried a 15 pin adaptor, but might go that way as a last resort. It is a hit and miss thing with these adaptors. Sometimes they work, sometimes not. If you go that way you might want to check out:http://www.amazon.com/Manhattan-Usb-Game-P...r/dp/B0009PXKZ8I would be interested to know how you make out. Please post.Regards,Ed
  10. Fixed!Cleaned the disk.Regards,Ed
  11. Yes, tried that and still won't load. Maybe, it is a bad disk? Will try and load it on another computer.Regards and thanksEd
  12. HelloUpgraded to W7. Installed FSX and FS9 on "c" drive. So far so good. Tried to install Acceleration to FSX and nothing happens. No auto-install, nothing! Removed FS9 and tried again. Nothing! All drives are OK and the DVD drive new and installs everything else (MS Word, etc). UAC off.Any thoughts?Regards,Ed
  13. HelloI had both but returned Ezdok back to Flight1. I would be glad to buy it again if they can get the two to work together. To me, there was a high learning curve which I just didn't have the time for. I think Ezdok is a good program for those who do not have TrackIR or those who want a top notch pan view around both the inside and outside of the plane. It would be great as a advertising tool to really show off your product. As a pilot, I find that TrackIR is a must. No buttons to push and all I have to do is turn (or adjust my head) to get the same views as Ezdok.Again, if they can get the two to work together, my money is waiting.Regards,Ed
  14. For my money, the two have to work together. I use Track IR all the time (using VC) and can pause it with a button stroke. It would be nice to have those effects though!Regards,Ed
  15. HelloUpgraded to W7 from Vista. Seems that any changes that I make to the default key assignments will be lost after I exit FSX. I have done a number of things already but to no avail. All icons are set to Administrative Rights. The FSX config file is new and does NOT have the Read Only checked. I have made a flight (after changes), saved it (not as default) then started up FSX again. I close out FSX using the Menu (not the X). The only thing left is to set changes using a default aircraft and then try to see it they are saved. FSUIPC saves all changes, but FSX does not save the new key commands.Any ideas? Thanks in advanceEd
  16. Anyone able to get Robco-30 to work in FS9? I know that there is a Robco-20 made just for FS9 but it is much harder to use (using the virtual panel) than the -30 version. I love the -30 in FSX and would love to port it into FS9 if possible.ThanksEd
  17. Well, here is what I do. On my main monitor I have FS9 running. My second monitor is off to the left. Now (for FS9) I start FS, then go to windows mode, then drag the whole thing over to the left monitor. Now FS is on the left monitor. Next I go to "views" then "instrument panel" and using the sub menu open all all windows that I want to stay on the second monitor. Next I go to the top of the FS main panel and drag it back over to the main panel. Next, I hit alt enter and there they are. All of the sub-windows are on the left, secondary monitor and FS is running under full screen mode on the right, main panel. Some considerations. Squawkbox (VATSIM) seems to run better on the main monitor, so I don't drag it over to the left monitor. Other programs, like Track IR5 and the Siatek (work around) software are best opened just after you start FS and go to windows mode (before you drag FS over to your second monitor).Good luck!Ed
  18. HelloJust got W7 upgrade. I am running W7 RC now. When I install the upgrade do I have to do a fresh install and lose everything or can I keep what I have now (using W7 RC) apply W7 Upgrade layered?Regards,Ed
  19. HelloI have been using my old Thrustmaster F-22 and F-16 TQS and Thrustmaster rudder pedels on Windows XP (FSX and FS9). Thinking of upgrading, and was wondering if they will work on Windows 7 64 bit? I would hate to loose my Thrustmaster setup. They were really well built as compared to today's Couger setup and have given me supurb service.ThanksEd
  20. These items may be of interest.Squawkbox / VATSIM (free) at: http://www.vatsim.net/FSUIPC (a free copy is available but better to buy) http://www.schiratti.com/dowson.htmlRealityXP (payware) for Garmin 430 / 530 (including WAAS approaches)http://www.realenvironmentxtreme.com/I might hold off on any cloud enviroment programs until REX for FS9 is released (hopefully soon) http://www.realenvironmentxtreme.com/Just my thoughts, but this goes "hand in hand" for a real pilot.Regards,Ed
  21. Might want to take a look at this:http://www.isgsim.com/Can be used for many other aircraft in FSX.Regards,Ed
  22. HelloCan't decide which one to buy. Are the new features included in TrackIR 5 worth the extra money? TrackIR 4 is available from Naturalpoint at quite a bit of reduced savings as compared to TrackIR 5. I can afford both, but most of my flying is airliners using FSX I would like to hear from users for both pieces of equipment. Any help, would be much appreciated. Thanks in advanceEd Ward, Jr.
  23. Many thanks to all who supported Tom and his efforts to get the site back. Can't tell you how tough it was not having AVSIM up and running these past days. Hope measures are put in force to avoid this sort of thing in the future.Regards,Ed Ward, Jr
