January 20, 200521 yr Okay guys here's the scenerio. I have two monitors and soon a third one. Now, my desired screen setup is to have the pilot view on the main monitor and an outside view of the plane and possibly it's surroundings on the other monitor. On certain occasions I would like to click open a split screen to bring up any vital instrument needed when flying; thus still maintaining the outside view of the plane.I keep hearing about frame rates with this sort of setup. So my main question what kind of setup do I need to achieve this type of scenerio?

January 22, 200521 yr I have a computer with two monitors.1. I have the front view 2. I use this flexible... Sometimes.. outside view of the plane and its suroundings. or Left Side view.Yes..it hits performance. But then, my computer is a P4- 2Ghz and its about 2 years old. With your setup, you shouldn't have any problem. BTW.. For some reason.. my computer with Megascenary has a higher frame rate than of I use the default textures.. Go Figure.I also use my Laptop. I have a wireless network.. and I have the Project Majenta's IFR Panel running on my Laptop. Check out Project Majenta. They use FSUIPC and WideFS. This does not hit performance at all. I know the video card has provision for two monitors.. but you say..you have three monitors? how do you plan to hook the third monitor to that single computer? Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter

So>my main question what kind of setup do I need to achieve this>type of scenerio?See attached screen capture. Is this something along the lines of what you are looking for?If so, it is simply two monitors plugged into a single video card, running under WinXP.The drawback is that you have to set up the views each time you start flying. Start FS9 in windowed mode. Press the '[' key to open a new view. It usually opens another cockpit view. Press Shift-S to change to the outside view. Right click the view and select "Undock" from the menu. Move the resulting window to the second monitor. Do the same with any other views/instruments (even the ATC window) that you want on the second monitor. Press ALT-Enter to go to full screen mode. You can then move and resize the views on the second monitor. But, you can't move views from one window to the other in full screen mode. Only in windowed mode. So, you must undock and move all views that you want on the second monitor before going to full screen mode, because if you go back to windowed mode, all the views will go back to the main monitor. And yes, there is a performance hit with two monitors. You'll have to play around with settings to find what you can live with.My normal mode is to have a full screen forward view on the main monitor, and the main and other instrument panels, GPS and ATC views on the second monitor. You can close and open views on the second monitor once you are in full screen mode.Hope this helps a bit....jim

It seems that visibility is unlimited when in windowed mode. When I have my various panel windows arranged and switch to full-screen mode, I sometimes have haze but other times it is still unlimited vis. When it gets to this state, I have problems getting the haze back. Sometimes just hitting the Alt key (and disdlying the menu bar) fixes the problem, other times I must go to a menu (World, Options, etc.) and then return to the outside view to reestablish haze, and once in a while I cannot fix the problem without restarting FS9.Do you have these problems? Any ideas on where I might start to make this work better. Thanks in advance to anyone who has any ideas.R-PS -- Oh, this just occurred to me. I now have two Display.Device definitions in my FS9.cfg. and have the "TableFog=0" entry in both definitions. R-
