Dual Joysticks

Featured Replies

I have recenty become enamored of such warbirds as the Spitfire and the P51. My normal rig is a PFC yolk/power quad rig and I was wondering if there would be any problem with installing a joystick type controller to fly the fighters with.I was wondering if having two controllers would mess up FS9 software. This post borders on a hardware/software question so I wasn't sure which forum to post on. If this is moved, I'll go over to hardware.I'm hoping that I could just enable/disable the appropriate controller in Device Manager but don't want to fritz up my system. Thanks,Jim

No problems whatsoever for me. Just get a USB joystick you can plug in and out as you need it couldn

windows xp with fs9....firstly i love my choppers so hence my set up...... my original controller was a usb logitech {with a twisting stick which simulated rudder inputs} this controller for some reason x and y axis's always fell out of calibration....then i purchased a ch fighterstick usb {best stick out, however no rudder twist} i just plugged both in {seperate ports} disabled x and y axis on my logitech controller {thru fs9 controller assignments area} ,leaving my z axis to operate my rudders on the logitech and the ch product to operate my x and y axis's . well blow me down... both just kicked in, and the system works with both controlers at the same time. This may not be true to life as i dont use pedals but it gives a little bit of a different approach to things{remember i like my choppers}...not to mention i have around 50 odd buttons to assign to , meaning less keyboard interaction....this may not answer your quest 100% but it might give you an insight to a diff set up ...have fun

your going to deep ....think simpler ....look in fs9 game settings...ie =settings=calibrate joystickcontroller=addremove hope this helps

Yeah but with that setup how do you adjust collective? I need to adjust that all the time when flying my choppers :)

If you "remove" one controller in FS9 would you have to reinstall it or can you just "add' it back in the same FS9 settings page?I'm nervous about just plugging/unplugging a second usb controller because my main PFC rig attaches via a serial port and I recall having some problems a few years ago...but maybe those conflicts don't happen anymore with XP??Thanks.

If you physically remove an USB device you can just plug it in again. If you remove the entries for it in the control assignment tab you just add them again when you want to use the second joystick. Then you don

No problems whatsoever. I normally use my CH yoke and pedals but I fly the PSS airbus range and Falcon 4 with my topgun thrustmaster throttle joystick combo. The second contoller also expands the number of buttons that can be assigned to a wide range of functions. Just make sure you don't accidently move the throttle your not using as that will upset the autothrottle. Apart from that the two game controllers work very well together.Bruceb
