December 27, 200223 yr Hi,I have a Sidewinder FF2 and the force effects work well... But is there a way to have the joystick act as a classic joy with the "return to center thing" instead of the force effects in FS2002 ? (useful when flying an airbus)Is there a way to have the joystick self-center itself and at the same time the force effects like ground bumps and gear retraction (not the control surface forces) in FS ?I also didn't manage to turn off the force effects and replace them with the self-center "function" in sidewinder central (driver 4.0)...Can you help me ?Thanks :)
December 27, 200223 yr I use the same stick for CFS and FS2002.I usually just unplug the power cord when in FS2002 as it doesnt quite represent the true feeling of flight surfaces.... you could also try to reduce FF to minimum levels then adjust the sensitivities within FS2002 to get the right feel for you.
December 28, 200223 yr Yes but if I unplug the power cord the joystick won't self-center right ?I would be happy to know a way to make the FF2 to work as a classic joystick like the precision pro 2 (no force effects but self-centering) in FS2002... if someone could help me...Thanks :)
December 28, 200223 yr Hi Plo:I have same problem.FFB2 works fine for me, but I have not found how to activate self-centering and maintain FF effects simultaneously. I think that problem resides in fs2002 configuration. If you turn on FF effects self-centering is unavailable (at least for me). If you disabled FF effects and go to panel configuration, then you can activate self-centering but feeling of ground bumps, shakers or gear movements is not active.Regards,Star
December 28, 200223 yr Where is the panel configuration in the FS Options ? I didn't managed to find it...Thanks for your help :)
December 28, 200223 yr Microsoft removed the centering forces in their flight sims on purpose. If you fly xplane, you have the centering forces; but not with any MS Sims. The reason they did this was based on feedback they received from users. There's an article on their site about it. Apparently the "as real as it gets" didn't jive with centering forces. You'll just have to get used to it or change joysticks.
December 28, 200223 yr You are right. Here is the link to the Microsoft article and the explanations: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...kb;en-us;224555Regards,
December 28, 200223 yr Today I managed to make my FF2 work like a "classic" joystick (with self-centering) in FS2002 but without the force effects... the problem is I don't know how I did that ! (only thing I remember is that I went in the "calibrate joystick" option in FSand tested the joystick) I tried to do it again but it doesn't work, so I suppose there is a way to make it work like this (despite what MS says)
February 24, 200521 yr Download FSForce from Dirks Software (Do a Google search on FSForce) follow the easy instructions from Russ, and you will NOT believe that you are using a FF2 joystick. His program actually uses the same flight dynamics as a real plane, jet or GA. You will not be sorry.
February 24, 200521 yr I've SW FF2 and wondering if the Dirks software is usefull....since few effects SW also has them...:()Please let me know...Ciaoooooooooooooooo
February 24, 200521 yr HI Have a look at FS Force from Dirks software, works wonders for FF in fs2004.You will be able to set up different force profiles for each aircraft. If you use FF in fs2004 this program is a must buy.
February 24, 200521 yr If you get the Saitek force feedback sticks they have a recenter function you can enable and disable :)
February 24, 200521 yr I have the MS FF2 and fly the PSS A320 a fair bit.I would love to get some more "centre feel" (as in, better return to centre).Any setup tips would be appreciated.Cheers,Andy
