Hi ran prime 95 and got this error after 2mins... [sat Apr 23 13:38:16 2005]FATAL ERROR: Rounding was 0.5, expected less than 0.4Hardware failure detected, consult stress.txt file. nothing in stress filealso should mention i don't overclock anything thanks steve

Yup that is the problem I get when overclocking to much. It seem to indicate that either you have a faulty CPU or that it runs to hot. Seeing it

thanks PARi'll try reseating the CPU and run memtest86 cheers steve

Steve; Sure don't want to add to your problems here but I had similarsymptoms a while back. Ran MEMtest and several more memory test utils, all showed good. The problem however was the memory! Ran Memtest for 24 hrs and nofaults, but as one reply recommended, I removed one stick of memory..Problem solved. Subsequently found that one stick of memory did not want to run at rated speed. Backed down the memory speed one notch..no more problems. Hope you get a handle on it! Denny

thanks Dennyi really am chuffed at the amount of help/tips i've received here.i did run memtest86..which didn't find anything,i will try backing down the memory, and seeing if that does solve problem..i use Ballistic ddr400..thought if i got one of the best No more problems..hope it turns out to be something else!! thanks again Denny steve

Choosing memory for A64 is kind of a lottery. AMD changes their mem controller revisions to often. One memory can be awesome for one A64 and totally suck for another. You could try running the prime 95 torture test and not the test. That is supposed to only stress the CPU whereas blend stresses your memory as well.

Hiran prime95 for an hour on each setting, and No problems reported.i know it isn't long, but yesterday i ran Prime95 for two minutes and it reported errors..(i haven't changed anything in my settings)So this problem i have is going to be very hard to fix.looks like i'll have to start replacing parts.might leave prime95 on for longer and check that, also run memtest86 for longer as well.very frustrating not being able to pin it down.my intuition tells me its memory, also the advice from here seems to say the same thing.. thanks to all steve

So your temps is good then? I don

thanks PAri'll try Superpi

HiSuperPi ran ok until 32M.then i received this error not convergent in SQR05i found a page in GOOGLE but it was in italian any idea what this means thanks steve

RAM can indeed be a bit problematic sometimes and specially with AMD64 CPUs since they have the integrated memory controller. IMHO, the best and easiest approach one can take is to stay away from 'the best' and choose the most compatible. As an easy rule of thumb, do not try to specify the RAM yourself and leave it up to the vendor of the components or system. Another detail are the CL-timings. Modules with CL2 or CL2.5 will sometimes be much more finicky than standard CL3 modules. If specifying yourself, it's important to take a good look at the compability listings of the mainbaord manufacturers. Even if they aren't complete these lists do allow to draw the most important conclusions with regard to compatibility. Good luck and kind regards Jaap

Yes looking for compability lists and look around in the different forums has become increasingly important. I haven
