June 4, 200521 yr If I wan't to get a new harddrive deducated mainly for FS9 shouldI then choose a SATA or a IDE drive?I now have two HD one three year old Maxtor U133 60 Gb where I haveWin XP and FS9 and all other stuff. I also have a six year old 10 Gb IDE drive where I have the swap file. I think both are 5400 rpm. If I now get a new drive will I have a siginicant gain in speed simply because the current drives are faster and better than a three year old drive?
June 5, 200521 yr You will have better drive read/write I/O times, but the extent to which that affects FS is debatable.Noel Noel System: 9900X3D Noctua NH-D15 G2, MSI Pro 650-P WiFi, G.SKILL 64GB (2 x 32GB) 288-Pin PC RAM DDR5 6000, WD NVMe 2Tb x 1, Sabrent NVMe 2Tb x 1, RTX 4090 FE, Corsair RM1000W PSU, Win11 Home, LG Ultra Curved Gsync Ultimate 3440x1440, Phanteks Enthoo Pro Case, TCA Boeing Edition Yoke & TQ, Cessna Trim Wheel, RTSS Framerate Limiter w/ Front Edge Sync.
