PCI Latency

Featured Replies

A few weeks ago I read in this forum that changing the 'DisableProgPCILatency' string in the registry would stop ATI cards from reverting to 255 on startup. I have a Radeon x800pro and the tweak seemed to work fine. I have recently added a second graphics card, a 64mb PCI Radeon 7000, in order to have a permanent display of the overhead in the PMDG 737, however the latency of this card also reverts to 255 on startup, I did a more thorough search of the registry for the 'DisableProgPCILatency' string and to my amazement I found around 20 instances of it in various folders, could anyone please tell me if all these should be changed from 0 to 1 in order for the latency I set to stick. Thanks for any help.Pete.

Do a Google search for: PCI Latency Tool 2.3 , install it, set your PCI latency to 64, and check < apply on startup >. Problem solved!BestGrahame (EDHL)

If you have a PCIE card then this dosnt apply right?

What kind of improvements occur when you change the DisableProgPCILatency in FS2004? What is behind the improvements?RH

Thanks for reply Grahame but this does not work with ATI cards (see thread http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...=9217&mode=full )The only way to make the setting stick is by changing the D vaue of the string 'DisableProgPCILatency' from 0 to 1 in the registry. As I said in my initial post this seemed to work fine with just the one graphics card but since installing the 2nd card I have had terrible stutters which prompted me to do a more thorough search of the registry which resulted in me finding numerous other instances of the string, all with values of 0. What I would like to know is it necessary (and safe) to change them all to 1Pete

Well, it sure works with MY ATI card <9800Pro> ! I know it works too, as it made an incredible difference in FS, and got rid of all my stuttering, and it's not as if I've secumbed to a effect, it really made a big difference, without changing anything else.Incidently, since a few weeks ago, I have an ASUS A8V mobo, as I upgraded to a 939 pin AMD64 system, and with the ASUS mobo I can set the PCI latency in BIOS, which I couldn't with my old board. On the other hand, I'm not sure if the BIOS setting stays if I de-install the PCI latency tool, but I do know it is set at 64, whereas before I installed the tool it was running at 255. Hope this helps.BestGrahame (EDHL)

Im still wondering, if you have PCIE you cant change the latency can you? Thanks

Thanks for the info

Any ideas? Is this at least activated immediately or is a reboot required?
