July 21, 200520 yr Ok, after troubleshooting and finally getting flightsim 2004 to boot with all 3 devices plugged in, now I have another problem...How do I get flightsim to use all 3 devices? Do I have to figure out that CH config manager thingy? And also, any suggestions on how to make the rudder pedals even stickier on my carpet? The rubber foot pads help but it still slides back as I push on the rudders. And no, nailing anything to the floor is out of the question.... :( Declared weather: FSX: ASN / FS9: ASE
July 21, 200520 yr Hi StoneCold,It just shows up as another controller. You need to make the assignments for the axes and things in the Flight Sim Controls Assignments screen to get it to do what you want. FS will default to using ailerons, elevator, rudder, and throttle, which will cause it to do some strange thngs at first. Be sure to clear the slew assignments, too, and check the Sensitivities and Null Zones in FS as it will probably zero some of them on you. You want maximum sensitivity and minimum null zone on all 6 axes. There's a file on my site, CMNOTE02.ZIP, that has a WordPad .DOC file in it that talks about how to set things up, you might want to take a look. It's on the "File Downloads" page.WRT the pedals, it's always a problem. If you can get something behind them between them and the wall that keeps them from sliding, a piece of plywood or something, that works pretty well but if they're out in the middle of the floor it's a problem. Maybe someone else will have an idea.Hope this helps!Best regards,- BobThe StickWorkshttp://www.stickworks.com
July 22, 200520 yr Author hmmmm still looks confusing, but will have to give it another try when I have more time to study it.... While we're at it..... Any ideas why flightsim won't boot with all 3 devices plugged in? With all 3 devices plugged in, it just stops responding, and doesn't even popup the module warning for fssound.dll (haven't added the oldmodules line yet), but it boots fine when I unplug the throttle quadrant, but doesn't seem to have a problem if I plug it back in while fs is still booting.... Can't unplug the yoke, because my windows apparently won't recognize it if I just plug it in, I gotta plug it in and reboot.... Declared weather: FSX: ASN / FS9: ASE

July 26, 200520 yr Author Dunno..... It all works fine in the calibration pages when the yoke is properly recognized.... If I can't find anything, will have to email them or something, I guess.....One more (and hopefully last :() Q.... Which yoke would suit the AFCS-III best? Only yokes in the control manager are CH Products yokes, and mine's obviously not a CH Product... Declared weather: FSX: ASN / FS9: ASE

If you want to know which>yoke to pick in the Control Manager to get it to recognize the>AFCS-III, there isn't one. The Control Manager only works with>the CH yokes. If you were asking which CH yoke was most like>the AFCS-III, I don't really know but I'd just go with the>3-lever version. Otherwise it and the LE version are>identical, and another couple of levers might come in handy.>Hmmmmmmmm....If the control manager won't work on the AFCS-III yoke or the goflight pedals, and won't help to assign them to anything in flightsim, I'm pretty much back at square one, wondering if I threw a bunch of money in the toilet because I can't get flightsim to use all 3 devices.....Starting to wonder if I should just email PC Aviator and ask if the yoke and pedals are returnable in exchange for the CH versions and a check/money order for the difference.... :P Declared weather: FSX: ASN / FS9: ASE
July 27, 200520 yr Author Ok, looks like I'm on the right track now.... Just completed a short flight using the yoke, pedals and throttle quadrant, and only a couple buttons not doing what they're supposed to do.... :)Only took the CH Control Manager and CMFS for the throttle quadrant, and manual devices.cfg editing for the other 2.....Guess I just had to start thinking about returning the yoke/pedals to kick myself onto the right track.... :(Anyway, thanks :) Declared weather: FSX: ASN / FS9: ASE
July 27, 200520 yr Hi StoneColdGreat! Sometimes it does take a little while to come up with the right combination, it can get a little complex. Anyway, I'm glad you got it working okay. Have fun!Best regards,- BobThe StickWorkshttp://www.stickworks.com
