August 10, 200520 yr Hi all.Can anyone tell me whether it's possible to run FS in VC mode spanning across two monitors with the ability to pan-view across those two screens? From what I've been told so far, dual-monitor set-ups off one graphics card gives only one panning window/screen in VC mode. FSwide provides set views in VC mode, with the number of views dependent on the number computers you're prepared to run. Is there an alternative?Cheers,Matthew.
August 10, 200520 yr Its not FSview that does that.. its Wideview that lets you use multiple computers for views.FSWide is for different purpose. Their use of the word "Wide" is misleading.FSWide lets you run some of the third party products on a networked PCs. Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter
August 11, 200520 yr That's alright. Just got the name wrong. Not that I'd ever be spending the money to get a better view in FS that way. One PC is expensive enough. Anyone got any ideas as to how a dual screen operation with VC mode can be achived?
August 12, 200520 yr Do a search through both this and the Hardware forum. If you still get stuck I'll try and help. Regards Howard H D Isaacs
August 22, 200520 yr Hi Howard. Ta for the tip. Did a look around. The discussion seems to imply that it can't be done. Would seem to a feature that MS should be considering in the future. The realism of FS would be greatly enhanced with a cockpit display that better approximates the real-world view from within the cabin. Cheers,Matthew.
August 22, 200520 yr I should have made it clear that it is possible, at least if you have an ATI card. not sure about nVidea.1) Install Microsoft Netframework 1.1 downloadable from Microsoft.2) Install one of the drivers that include the Catalyst Control Centre. The rest is from memory:3) Under the displays option in the Control Centre right click on the left monitor and select the option 'stretch horizontally to CRT'.This links the two monitors together.4) Start FS and select the new screen resolution in the list of available resolutions. There are two downsides:1)You are tied to using the VC as the 2d panels are distorted when stretched to the new size but it doesnt matter because the VC looks:-eek 2)You really need to use thin frame TFT screens to minimise the impact of the join. August 23, 200520 yr Wow! That's great Howard. Much appreciated. I'm a little far off from the appropriate purchases to get this going but it's great to know it can be done. What a step up to get out of a single monitor view!! Thanks again.Cheers,Matthew.
