Building new PC: 3600+ or 3800+???

Featured Replies

Hi guys,a few questions for you:- I'm building a new sys and was wondering about the Athlon X2 4600+ or 4800+. Is the last one much faster than the 4600+, or won't I notice to much difference in performance between them?- For FS9, is the AMD 64 FX much better than the X2-dual core options above, regarding its expensive price?- I'm getting an ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe. Now, I've noticed it is a nVidia SLI ready card. This means I should buy a GeForce card because the MOBO is optimized for using one, or do you think I'll get a good performance as well with a X800XL Radeon card I was planning to buy (both PCI express, of course)? Many thanks and regards,Lucas.

Hi Lucas, If you go to Newegg.com, you could find out alot of useful Info. from what I read, the X23400 performs just as good as the X2 3600. They also have a lot of reviews from people who have already bought the products.. I just ordered my new system from them, I opted for a single core, AMD 4000+ San Diego 2.4ghz. FS9 is the only game I use, That's the reason for the single core, Used the extra cash for a new video card XFX 7800GTX... Good Luck on your new system.... HAKU,

Hi Haku!do you think a single core 4000+ out perform much better than my actual Athlon 64 3200+(2.0ghz)??? many thanks,Lucas.

I am going from a P4 2.4ghz to AMD 4000+, so I honestly cant compare to th 3200+...NEW system orderedAMD 64 4000+ san diegoASUS A8N5x moboXFX 7800GTX 256MBOCZ Titanium 2X1g RAMHavent got it all together yet, will let you know how it works when done..... HAKU..

Are you planning on overclocking at all?Nice system. :)

Hi Haku, would you know if the FX-55 would greatly over perform the 4000+ or maybe the 4600/4800+ X2 series, or wouldn't be to much difference between them???Thanks again,Lucas.

Hi Lucas, Maybe this link would help a bit, Any of those will definately outperform the 4000+, I'ts just a matter of what you will use it for, fs.9 is singlethreaded app., as to why it will not make use of the dualcore.. Unless you do alot of multitasking, say like burning a cd or dvd while you play a game? I only use it for FS, thats why I opted to go with the singlecore, As for the price diffrence to performance, I decide to go with 4000+ instead of th FX 55 series.. Now if you play alot of diffren't games other then FS. I would do some research on the dual cores, As I believe some games will be coming out that will be able to make use of the dualcore.. Good Luck, HAKUhttp://www.extremetech.com/article2/0,1697,1876715,00.asp

What if FS10 comes along and it uses the Dual core. Do they dump their computer and go buy another one?
