What give the best performance

If you where to build a machine(PC) with today technology what would be the single most important component to get the best frame rate with all slides to max. ie Is a faster CPU more important than the faster GPU?Regards,Andrew@-@

Mixture of both. :) Theres no point spending a wad of cash on a quick CPU and then buying a midrange videocard. Then again, you can't buy a high end videocard and have a slow CPU bottle neck it.Depending on your budget you should find a happy medium.

Hi,You can't do either until you've decided on a motherboard - then CPU - then Graphics - then sound,in that order of priority.Mick H.A.N.D.

My priority as follows:PSU (if it ain't good then everything else is meaningless)MotherboardMemoryCPUVPUI want to balance the bus system (including memory) with the CPU and VPU. Having any one part of the system stronger than the rest is wasted money. Conversely, having strong hardware thrown into a system with even a single weak point is a bigger waste of money. It's all about making all the components play well together.Greg

If I'd get a machine just for FS and with money not being an option, I'd get the following:- AMD Athlon 64 FX57 San Diego- 2GB PC3200 Ram (matched 2x1GB)- Geforce 7800GT- Socket 939 Motherboard with nForce4 Chipset- SATA RAID 0 ArrayThe CPU is by far the most important factor when it comes to performance, but it needs to be matched carefully to an equally 'powerful' GPU to make it really shine in FS.I also did notice a minor, but very welcome performance increase with faster RAM, especially when it comes to changing views and in the VC, which eliminated a lot of the "stutters" in my system.Hope this helps,Pat

just a quick tipbe VERY careful what memory you use ,if buying an AMD CPU.i bought 1gb of BALLISTIX 400mhz memory..expensive so i thought it was one of best..WRONG...i have to run it at 333mhz.otherwise i get CTD's every 2-3mins.it took forever to find the cause..i blamed every part of the computer from PSU to soundcard to videocard.i use a coolermaster case with extra memory FANS.so didn't think it could be that.. steve

"...be VERY careful what memory you use...I LOVE my G.Skill!! :-) Greg

:-) :-) :-) :-) I'd love your G skill as well.unfortunately;( ;( ;( you wont give me them:-hang :-grr BALLISTIX steve
