January 2, 200620 yr >omega drivers are the bestWhat data do you have to back that up? You may be correct, but I used Omega for a while and saw no performance benefit and some really weird crap from the ATI tray tools. I suffered crashes and strange errors as a result of the tray tools, while the official ATI drivers have been rock solid.
January 2, 200620 yr "What data do you have to back that up?"Empirical. Been using his drivers for years (on both nVidia and ATI cards) and have never had a single problem. Ever. In any way. The guy makes outstanding modded drivers, pure and simple. In fact some would say that Omega is all other modders' Daddy. He leads where they follow.Sadly, he's shown signs of burnout (can't say that I blame him after seeing some of the stuff he's had to deal with in the gaming community). The good news is that there are other options available, some of them quite nice. For ATI card owners we can go with the standard CAT's (and tweak them ourselves), or NGO (I'm testing the 5.13 version of these now and I'm quite happy with them), DH zeroPoint, Extreme ATI, and a number of others. It should be remembered that Omega doesn't tweak drivers for performance gains. He tweaks to wring the best IQ from the standard drivers. It's something any of us could do (given alot of time to learn his magic) if we wished to muck about in the registry and spend time in any of the popular tweakers. But Omega makes it simple. Just install his drivers and go play.Having said that, the most important part of any driver install is cleaning away the previous set. DrivercleanerPro is the tool to use. Wipes a registry clean of anything from ATI and nVidia video drivers, to chipset drivers, and sound drivers. Follow the directions carefully and you'll create a fresh platform for installing any driver. Finally, see my post #12 in this thread: http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...g_id=2504&page=Cheers,Greg
