Stutters in the turn

Featured Replies

I have tried all the recommendations I can find about minimising stutters whilst turning but nothing works. It makes flying agile fighters an unpleasant experience.Does anyone have any suggestions?AMD 64 3800+2x512mb PC320036Gb Raptor2x200Gb SATA WDC in RAID 0FS9 on RAID arrayWindows on the RaptorI am completely happy with all aspects of my FS9 experience apart from this.I am using FSAutostart (makes no difference)I have tweaked FS9.CFG to death trying all the different texture bandwidth settings. It still stutters pretty badly in steep and fast turns.Any ideas? Thanks a lot.

How about clouds? Does this happen only or more obviously with there is significant cloud coverage in area?Jason

Clouds don't affect it at all.

I get this as well, but only when my frame rates are locked at a certain number. set it to unlimited

Frames are already set at unlimited. Thanks for your help so far.

I found that a setting of unlimited produces those stutters on my system. Try something lower if you haven't. Also, there is another thread in the general discussion forum that talks about FS looking for fx and texture files that aren't there. Using filemon and/or FS Flightmanager can help identify those files. Search that forum. You should be able to find it.Here's the subject: "Frame Rate Dips - A Possible Cause"RandallAMD 3200+Radeon 9700 pro1 gig 3200 RAMNForce 2 Ultra 400Soundblaster Live!

Right.I've just done a completely fresh install of both x64 and FS9.This I put FS9 on my Raptor alongside x64.All I have installed is 5.13 Catalyst and the latest Audigy 2 drivers.A bog standard install of FS9 still stutters even though my frame rates are sky high.Cranking all the detail up to max makes things ever so slightly worse but not much. However, what I have found that if I keep turning, after about 5 seconds the stutters disappear completely and don't return if I turn the other way.I have not yet tried turning then flying a few miles away then turning again but I'm sure the stutters wil return. I hope they don't though.I have a Radeon x800xl in case that has any bearing on this. Thanks a lot.

I had micro stutters for the longest time. Went through all the great suggestions here but still no go. What I did was change my AGP Aperture setting in the BIOS to 128mb and the micro stutters went away. Not sure if this is your problem but you may want to check your BIOS setting and see if this helps.Good luck.Guy

"However, what I have found that if I keep turning, after about 5 seconds the stutters disappear completely and don't return if I turn the other way."This sounds more like a bus issue. What motherboard are you using? Also make sure the TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT setting in your FS9.cfg is set to stock (40) just for testing purposes.Greg

Gigabyte GA-K8NF9 4Force4 PCI-Express Motherboard.I've not touched FS9.cfg at all yet.Thanks.

If you're using any of the on-board features such as sound, firewall, Norton, have you tried disabling them (one at a time) during your troubleshooting? If you are using on-board sound I would be suspect of that first. Disable it in the BIOS and then go make a test flight in the sim.Greg

Thanks, I will try that tonight.I'm pretty sure that my AC97 is disabled. If it isn't, but disabling it doesn't help would you think either of these suggestions would help?1. Update my MoBo chipset drivers?2. Tinker with PCI Latency settings? Thanks.

1. Might not be a bad idea. Worth a try.2. Not sure what that would get you. Your video card latency is set (at 16 if I'm not mistaken), but it might do some good for some of the other devices you have installed. If you're not using the on-board sound and it is indeed disabled, then you also might try disabling the add-on sound card and testing with that out of the loop. Simply "Disable" in Device Manager, reboot, and then make a test flight. What brand sound card are you using?Greg

Thanks.It's an Audigy 2ZS.

The AC97 was disabled.Disabling the Audigy does nothing.Without wanting the suggestions to stop, I think I might be being over critical. The stutters disappear quickly and only happen near airports.Perhaps this is unavoidable? Thanks.
