January 11, 200620 yr Sometimes when I first start a flight and do a controle surface check my rudder flickers and the pedals do not respond This happens in flight as well.Ive even tried rebootingAlso at times I have no aleron or elevator responce in the Yoke upon start. This also happens in a long flight .When I start my approach and turn off the AP. I have no rudder or in other cases elevators.other time when flying straight and level in AP all of a sudded my rudder delfects hard left and wont come back.Rudder pedals are non responsive. This is beginnig to really tick me off.In some cases unplugging from the USB helps bit thats rair. Can anyone help me with my delema. Thanks Alhttp://www.flightontario.com/images/sig_asibley.gif
January 11, 200620 yr A long long time ago, when I first got WinXP, I had this problem. I fix it by downloading and installing the CH Control Manager software. I didn't have to use CHCM to create fancy maps or anything, just installing it fixed the problems. I assumed at that time that the XP drivers were the problem and that the Control Manager drivers were better. If you don't have CHCM installed it might be worth a shot.Oh, one other thought from all those years ago; I found that either the yoke or the pedals (I'm not sure that I ever figured our which one) would only work properly in certain USB ports on my system. I assume it is a power problem. R-
January 11, 200620 yr Thanks for the reply.I am using the latest CHCM . I herd before, that USB ports have a tendancy to shut off if nothing is shown being used. This might be the case for the axis left stagnent for a long period of time while on AP.The USB shuts down and that the controler is un usable.Think I might contact CH and see what they have to say.http://www.flightontario.com/images/sig_asibley.gif

Have you looked into "Properties" for your USB ports? I seem to recall that that's where you will find a checkbox to allow ports to disable if they are inactive over a period of time. R-
January 12, 200620 yr Yes, I bet that's it. The USB port has a `sleep` mode that switches it to standby if it's not used for a length of time, but it's an option you can switch off in Device Manager - USB Root (of the actual device) Power Management - `Allow the computer to switch this devce off to save power`.Hope this helps! March 20, 200620 yr has anyone ever found a real solution to this problem?...ive been plauged by this for many years and now all of a sudden its gotten much worse where it happens every time im in the sim...has nothing to do with the ports going to sleep either as i have that power option unchecked in hardware manager...and it happens WHILE i am using the rudders in a turn...the stinkin pedals will turn left all on their own and then stick there until i reboot my machine.Ive had so many controllers over the years, both high-end and cheap..and CH is the only product that ever gives me problems like this, and it does it constantly...so much so at this point that im seriously considering getting out of the flightsim hobby due to the fact that there are no yoke/pedal alternatives short of spending close to $1,000.Control manager 4 doesnt help at all either...ive uninstalled and reinstalled till i was blue in the face and at this point ive all but had it with any product carrying the CH name...i dunno if its the drivers themselves or faulty electronics, but since these are 5 years old and its gotten worse and worse over time i wouldnt be surprised if its some sort of design flaw in the electrics somehow. Are there any alternatives for a new set of pedals and a yoke (not a joystick) that wont cost 4 figures and doesnt use the CH drivers?Dave Dave Kalin Excel Classes Computer Lessons
March 24, 200620 yr I wish there was an alternate supplier whose prices are somewhere between CH & PFC yokes & pedals. I bought the cirrus and returned it because it had about an inch of play in the mechanism before it actually initiated any control surface movement. I could move it with my little finger and in the real 737 you have contant hydraulic pressure on the Yoke at all times. If you were to move the yoke just a little bit, you would be taking off or turning the aircraft. The throttle was a cessna-type 'push/pull', which in my opinion, for the money, should have been configured like the CH yoke to get a somewhat realistic movement for the price of that thing....Needless to say, I sent it back and have a USB CH Yoke & pedals. I hope that some entrepreneur comes along and supplies the FS community with a halfway decent yoke for the money that somewhat duplicates the tension of the real thing.Regards, jack
March 24, 200620 yr Ya I agree. I personally take the Ch stuff and gut it and just use the Circuit board and pots.I built my Yoke into my panel . I took the rudder pedals and widened them to a 15 inch center. I also changed the angle to be more like rudder pedals than the gas on a car.My plan is to build a set of swinging pedals from under my desk . Thats down the road.http://www.flightontario.com/images/sig_asibley.gif
April 11, 200620 yr Hi Guys: I'm really interested in this thread as I've had a problem similar to this fromday one with my present computer. In my case the problem seems to be triggered by non-use of the yoke(CH-Usb}. As Ihave never used the autopilot, electing to hand fly all the time, I can't confirm thatit would trigger the problem. My troubles begin if I pause the sim and leave it for any length of time. When I returnI find the pan view rotating 360 deg continually as if the hat switch was pulled straightback, and all yoke functions not responding. I have only experienced this "In flight" once and that was with the FSDZigns LO49 Connie. As i mentioned I don't use autopilot, and the only aircraft I have loaded that will trimsufficiently to fly hands off for prolonged periods is the "Connie". It is almost like if you don't use the yoke occasionally it gets "forgotten". I had hopedthat the sleep provision was my problem, but turning it off did no good. Now what I would like somone else having this problem to confirm....In my case this seemsto be a "Windows" issue. I mean by that, that nothing I do to FS9 will correct the problem. This includes exiting and relaunching FS9. I have to reboot the computer to get the yoke function back. I can fly for hours, and NEVER have the problem untill I pause and leave it for over fivemins. One other thing I've noticed...when first entering a flight I have to run all controlsthru thier full range of motion at least once otherwise the sim is nearly uncontrollablefor a bit. Any confirmation, comments or suggestions? Thanks DennyPs; Didn't mean to hijack your thread..also not using FSUIPC. Denny Retired Professional Tourist
