January 31, 200620 yr "So is it safe to run FS2004 with the g2d.dll being the old version..."Naw, I wouldn't do that. Must admit that I'm perplexed with this one. Can't fly, and can't even install video drivers. Strange one, indeed. Can't give up... will research it here (though you seem to have done quite a bit of that before posting here).Greg
January 31, 200620 yr Thank you so much for continuing helping me out! I am as confused as you are as to why FS2004 won't work smoothly! :(Yea spent a lot of hours reading all (as many as I could find) forums that even mentioned the word "G2d.dll" even say sites that sells the dll!!
January 31, 200620 yr I wonder if you'd be willing to do some testing. Here is a download of Prime with a Windows GUI (click on "Downloads" right under the "Contents" line).First run the Small FFT's test to stress the CPU, followed by the Large in-Place FFT's to stress the RAM, and finally the Blend test to stress both. You should run all tests for several hours each. You'll not be doing much gaming during tests (not that you can now). This is a good app to use when your computer is seeing little usage. Be forewarned, if a test fails the app uses the computer's speaker to send an audible warning (that is more than a bit annoying). Thanks,Greg
February 1, 200620 yr Sure will do..LOL I don't mind the auidiable warining (can always just leave my speackers off) but I will them today (3:40pm here) and will try to get eh results as soon as possible..I am actually hoping that it's a hardware fault as would give me an excuse to replace it (with hopefully a better one!) :( And it would be much easier to fix and less time consuming!!!
February 1, 200620 yr Right! I finished carrying out the small FFTs test.. took 5 hours in total :( But on the plus side it seems that my CPU operates fine (as it should!)! :DSo at least that is one thing cleared out..I will try out a flight with the module you sent me and the leave the large FFTs test on overnight!
February 1, 200620 yr Well I gave another flight a try and all went well....... until shortly after takeoff where it crashed to desktop (suprise suprise!!)... This time however it came up with "unknown" modname when asked for details on the crash.... could be an improvement! (or mabey not :( ) in anycase... I will continue the stress tests and report back with the results of that and then try another flight after that to see if the unknown modname error will come back up...
February 1, 200620 yr duplicate afcads, invalid textures, it could be many thingswhat fixed most of my issues is uninstalling the level-d airplane.but run scanafd, try flight sim managers checking section for errors in duplicate textures, bad landlcass files, bad numbering of scenery.cfg file, etc
February 2, 200620 yr Alex, Could you recommend any good Flight Sim Managers?? I will try un-installing my LevelD 767 and see if it makes a difference (not using it at the moment anyway as I can't even fly for more than a hour cause of this crash so it shouldn't hurt :D )You do have a point though that didn't corss my mind! I probably do have some duplicate scenery files.. I have never edited my scenery.cfg files though (but I have read elsewhere than changing MaskClassMap=3 and MaskClassMap=1 to MaskClassMap=0 in terrain.cfg helps... should I do that?)Greg, I ran the Large FFTs stress test for 7hours and 40minutes (!!) and everything checks out!! All thats left the is Blend tests.....***UPDATE: ****Alex, I downloaded ScanAFD and gave it a try... lo and behold I had 7 duplicate airports (5 of which are in the AddonScenery and share the same priority!!)!! But I am a bit unsure, as it were, about how to proceed since the duplicate files for the airports consists of one AFCAD that is an addon for the airport that I want and the other being placed because if Flight1's Ultimate Traffic (F1UT)... As I want to keep the add-on AFCAD that I placed rather than F1UT's AFCAD for that same airport, does that mean by removing F1UT's AFCAD, traffic will not be present in that airport? Please help me solve this dilema!
February 2, 200620 yr http://www.ranainside.com/products.htmldownload ranainsides flight sim manager and the diagnostic button, you should check for landclass problems, scenery numbering errors, duplicate texture errors, etc.if you find duplicate afcad files, see what they are named. you probably downloaded addon scenery with its own afcad file that is better than ultimate traffics. so copy and paste the ultimate traffic afcad2 file to your desktop, run the scanafd again and make sure there are no errors.be careful though, as the program isnt always 100% correct, sometimes it will flag taxi bgl files or scenery bgl files as "duplicate" so make sure you are really moving a valid afcad file before you delete it!Anyway, that should fix your problem. until you run into another one. welcome to the world of computers, aint it fun! (I wonder why playstation and xbox sell so well? hehe)
February 2, 200620 yr LOL it turns out I already had FlighSim Manager v2.85 by RanaInside but had never used it! I used the diagnostics tool and my landclass and scenery configuration checks out according to it...I will just move the duplicate AFCAD files out and leace the F1UT files instead...Will see how that goes...
February 2, 200620 yr Well upon testing a few flights.. It seems that I dont get the dll error anymore... because now even before I can take off.. my OS crashes (Blue Screen od Death) ans shows the blue DOS screen and restarts!!!The only thing I did different is remove the addon scenery that I had installed so that there was only Flight 1's Ultimate Traffic scenery files so that these files don't conflict!!!I just read a thread above mine (now below, "Auto re-boots in FS9 ??") and perhaps I will try replacing my power supply...This crash happen twice in a row and as these FS crashes have been occuring more frequently recently it could be due to my power supply degrading.... (could that cause the g2d.dll error??)....now if only i can get my hand on a decent 500W power supply (using 450W curretly)....
February 4, 200620 yr Well I was about to try a flight but I seem to get the "sim1.dll" error... I have heard that simply replacing the file will help to solve the problem...Could anyone send my this dill (updated to v9.1) since replacing it from the CD would mean that I am replacing a newer version with an older one which I am sure will cause more problems!!! (the LAST thing I need at this time!!)
February 4, 200620 yr well..... I tried a few more flights to see if the sim1.dll error repeats and it dosen't!! INSTEAD it is replaced with the crashes to the blue DOS screen (read 2 posts up or so)!!! ;( I have tried to repeat this several times to check and it always happens!!I using a computer monitoring tool to check my PC temps and my CPU reaches about 53 degress Celcius at the time of crash which is odd since I set my BIOS to restart (or warn) at 60 degrees celcius!!I have NO idea what causes this crash!!Could someone PLEASE help me and I have been unable to play FS2004 for too long and these problems are fustrating me!!!! :( :-hang :-8 :-boom
February 4, 200620 yr have you rebuilt your fs9.cfg file by deleting it? try thathave you updated all hardware drivers?
February 5, 200620 yr All hardware related drivers, firmware, etc ahve been updated...I will try to rebuild the cfg file...I have read somewhere that there is a way to stop the auto reboot when at the Blue DOS screen when the computer chrases but I can seem to find out the method.... Would you happen to know how to stop the auto reoot so that I can find out what caused the crash?
