Featured Replies

I would rather buy 4 sticks of 256mb rather than 2x 512 since my PC has 4 slots and I would rather use all of them.. I dont want to go above 1gig total memory since it is more than sufficient! But the awnser is yes.. I can buy another 512mb worth of memory but I just dont know of which speed.. the 2700 or the 3200...

>>I have been using the PC2700 RAM and you guys are right.. there was an improvement!<< Well, that's practicle proof despite the lack of documentation... :-) >>Since my PC2700 is double sided should I buy another 2 sticks of this 256MB RAM or buy 2 sticks of the Kingston RAM?<< I'ld say, depends what you want to get in total and how long you intend to use that computer? I think Greg's right if you want to use your FlyTendo for a long time. With 2x512MB, you could easily upgrade to 4x512MB if necessary. Case your current machine will never see more than 1GB it's ok to get another 2x256/PC3200, preferably with identical part numbers of the modules you already have. You could still get to 2GB but that would imply having to get 2x1GB... IMHO and to confront you with yet another personal rule of thumb (based on certain practicle experiences), it's easiest, if you try to think in terms of 2 modules. HST, 4x256MB/PC3200 is one of the exceptions to this '2-module rule.' There are always exceptions... :-) Good luck and kind regards Jaap

Well I think that I will stick to having just 1gb of total memory since I honestly don't see the point in having any higher (just yet! :( ) and I would rather have all memory of same capacity, speed, make, etc...I think I will go ahead with the 2x 256mb of PC3200 RAM cause of the better speeds... and personally I have had no problems with reliability of Kingston memory! :PThanks!

>>I think I will go ahead with the 2x 256mb of PC3200 RAM cause of the better speeds... and personally I have had no problems with reliability of Kingston memory!<< That's a good idea even though you wouldn't loose much running @ 2700. OTOH, why give away a couple of %!? :-) AIM, just try to get modules with the same p/n. Kingston is ok like almost any brand. In the past, OEM/no-name RAM was a no-go and nowadys even OEM is ok in most cases. Good luck and kind regards Jaap

Thanks! I will defietly check the specs and all manner of minute detail this time!! Do wan't to go through all those crashes again!! :D
