DirectX 9.0c (Dec. 2005 update)

Hi Ted,"noticed that it only updated one DirectX file, quartz.dll.Here's the list of files that seemed to have been updated when I installed the December 2005 Update:Version 5.04.000.2904DirectX.dllDiagnostics.dllAudioVideoPlayback.dllDirectSound.dllDirectPlay.dllDirectInput.dllDirectShow.dllVersions:9.10.0455.00009.09.0376.00009.08.0299.00009.07.0239.00009.06.0168.00009.05.0132.00009.04.0091.00005.04.0000.3900Direct3DX.dll (instances x8)Version 9.05.0132.0000 Direct3D.dllMike quartz.dll (Ver 6.05.2600.2749) Date: 30/08/2005The rest are a mixture of 2005,2004,2001 and even 1998 (3 files)The 1998 files are: quartz.vxd, vidx16.dll and mciqtz.drv

Mike,Now you got me concerned. I don't have any of the files that you listed except quartz.dll. This one was listed in the DirectX files tab of the DirectX diagnostic tool dxdiag.exe. Quartz.dll is the only file with a 2005 date, all the others were 2004, hence my thinking that it was the only one updated. I did a file search on the other files you listed and found no files. Were are the directX files that you listed located on your computer? Are they showing up in the dxdiag files list?My sim seems to be running just fine, however. Thanks,Ted

I see now that I mislead you unwittingly by leaving out the Microsoft. and the Microsoft.DirectX. prefix in the file names - Sorry! :( These files all bar one appear to be part of Microsoft's .NET framework installation.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/140768.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/140769.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/140770.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/140771.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/140772.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/140773.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/140774.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/140775.jpgThe only oddity is that, despite my every effort, I could not find DirectShow.dll and my searches this evening included System and Hidden Files and Folders. What's even more curious is that that file has now disappeared from the file list under the DirectX Files tab in Dxdiag, yet it was definitely there earlier today! Explain that if you can. My apologies once again if I caused you any needless anxiety.MikeEdit: I should add that this exercise has proved useful in one sense - I have discovered that sometime in the past I installed 'Everest Home Edition' and had forgotten that I had it!!http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/System...e-Edition.shtml

For the record, the date stamps on the updated Microsoft .Net files list as shown in Dxdiag is 31/01/2006. I assume this is the date I applied the December 2005 update. However, one file differed from this:Microsoft.DirectX.Direct3DX.dll (ver. 9.09.0376.0000) 28.01.2006 - see reply #15Can't say why that should be so. :-hmmm I'm beginning to wish I'd never started this. x(Mike

Sorry for the response delay Mike. The Denver ski areas just got blessed with an 18" snow blanket. I had to put down Flightsim for a few days and get some powder skiing in. :D I just recently installed Microsoft .Net v1.1 for the latest version of Activesky 6. I ran the December 2005 DirectX installer before I had put in .net. After running the DirectX installer again, I now have all the files that you listed.I haven't noticed any difference in performance so far and I don't know if these additional files are needed for FS2004. But for everyone's information it appears that there are certain DirectX files that are only installed if you have .net installed. Thanks for the help Mike.

You're most welcome and I'm glad to see you've got your priorities in the right order ;)Mike
