February 17, 200620 yr Is there a way to control how much time will elapse before XP locks your screen? Right now it happens way too soon and I have to keep logging back in (password) to get back in. It is really annoying but I see no options to control this timeout, does anybody know?Michael J.http://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/pmdg_744F.jpghttp://sales.hifisim.com/pub-download/asv6-banner-beta.jpg Michael J.

February 18, 200620 yr Or when you're at the screen saver tab, just click the dropdown list and pick "none". You can also uncheck "on resume, password protect" and it shouldn't nag you for a password after the screensaver kicks in.
February 18, 200620 yr Author We must have different versions of XP. Mine doesn't have any dropdown list or "resume, password protect". Instead I see "On resume, display Welcome screen".Michael J.http://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/pmdg_744F.jpghttp://sales.hifisim.com/pub-download/asv6-banner-beta.jpg Michael J.
February 19, 200620 yr Attached is what I see. I'm running XP Home, SP2. I would guess that "On resume, display Welcome screen" would accomplish the same thing as the "password protect" option. The dropdown list I'm talking about is under "Screen saver", and is where you choose the specific screen saver you want to use.

February 20, 200620 yr I've been running XP for over four years, and I just learned something new. My FS computer only has a single user account, and it has the "password protect" message I showed above. I just checked my laptop, which has more than one user account, and it shows the "welcome screen" message. Obviously the screensaver password protection is more important on a multiple user machine to prevent another user from gaining access to the administrator account.
