February 18, 200620 yr Hi,I just replaced my old ATI Radeon 9800 128 Mb AGP, with a X850 Pro 256 Mb AGP.What I can not understand is why the new card leaves the sim with poorer framerates than the older card. :-hmmm First I installed the drivers from the CD in the box. Then I tried the newest drivers from the ATI site,...without success. I use the same settings as the old card in the control center.So,...now I ask all o you who have the X850 Pro card,...which drivers you find to be the absolutely fastest available today? Thanks for any constructive replies. :-)http://www.scandicair.com/images/sa_banner.gifMy specs are:Dell Dimension 4600 P4/3.0 Ghz1024 Mb DDR333 Dual channel memory (2x256,1x512)256 Mb ATI Radeon X850 ProCatalyst 6.14.0010.6599DirectX 9.0cW XP Home with SP1E171FPb Flat panel monitor 17"240Gb (2x120) 7200rpm HD Staffan
February 18, 200620 yr It may not matter but, did you delete or rename the fs9.cfg file so as to get the new graphics information included when it rebuilds? The old info looked something like this:(DISPLAY.Device.RADEON 9800 SERIES .0)Mode=1280x1024x32TriLinear=1MipBias=4 That entry need to be gone and replaced by a new one for the X850.Doug Intel 10700K @ 5.1Ghz, Asus Hero Maximus motherboard, Noctua NH-U12A cooler, Corsair Vengeance Pro 32GB 3200 MHz RAM, RTX 2060 Super GPU, Cooler Master HAF 932 Tower, Thermaltake 1000W Toughpower PSU, Windows 10 Professional 64-Bit, 100TB of disk storage. February 18, 200620 yr Author Yes I did that.Checked and doubble checked. ;-)I even cleaned the drivers which came with the box with the Catalyst Remover utility. Thanks for your concern,http://www.scandicair.com/images/sa_banner.gifMy specs are:Dell Dimension 4600 P4/3.0 Ghz1024 Mb DDR333 Dual channel memory (2x256,1x512)256 Mb ATI Radeon X850 ProCatalyst 6.14.0010.6599DirectX 9.0cW XP Home with SP1E171FPb Flat panel monitor 17"240Gb (2x120) 7200rpm HD Staffan
February 19, 200620 yr Hi Staffan,I have the XP850PE and use Omega's 6.01. It seems to run well. You might give it a try. Another option is ATI's 5.2. I think it was a good one. But I would try the Omega driver first. And get rid of the CCC option that comes with the latest ATI drivers.Hope this helps. "A good landing is one you can walk away from. February 20, 200620 yr Author Thanks Bill,Yes, those Omega's 6.01 are sure fast drivers. When changing to those, the framerates boosted for sure. :-)Another thing I realized, is that all the ATI values in the Latency.cfg tool, was messed up after the card replacement. So, after I changed the values, the sim now runs smooth as silk. ;-)Here is how the values look now. And if someone have ideas for better values, please let me know.....http://www.scandicair.com/images/latency.jpghttp://www.scandicair.com/images/sa_banner.gifMy specs are:Dell Dimension 4600 P4/3.0 Ghz1024 Mb DDR333 Dual channel memory (2x256,1x512)256 Mb ATI Radeon X850 ProCatalyst 6.14.0010.6599DirectX 9.0cW XP Home with SP1E171FPb Flat panel monitor 17"240Gb (2x120) 7200rpm HD Staffan
