February 28, 200620 yr HelloI would like to buy FS. Hovewer, I don't know which version will run acceptably (let's say around 20fps in medium quality, 1024x768 resolution) on my system. I have a Celeron M 1.3 laptop (roughly equivalent of PIV 1.7-2.0) with 256 RAM. The worst thing is my graphics card - as it is integrated ViA S3 Unichrome Pro chip. It has up to 64mb of shared memory and it is crap. What is more, as it is in a laptop, I cannot replace it. I already know that it won't run fs2004 as it has no T&L or shader suport. I am considering FS 98, 2000 or 2002. So maybe someone has an idea what can I expect from these games on my computer?kind regardsPawel
February 28, 200620 yr Welcome to the forum(s). To me, it looks like FS98 should work fairly well. Avoid FS2000 as it's the worst performer of the three. And FS2002 isn't going to run well at all with the RAM and video card limitations. I'd recommend FS98.Doug Intel 10700K @ 5.1Ghz, Asus Hero Maximus motherboard, Noctua NH-U12A cooler, Corsair Vengeance Pro 32GB 3200 MHz RAM, RTX 2060 Super GPU, Cooler Master HAF 932 Tower, Thermaltake 1000W Toughpower PSU, Windows 10 Professional 64-Bit, 100TB of disk storage. March 1, 200620 yr I agree, I would run FS98 on that. You could run FS2000, but in my opinion, FS2000 is in some respects inferior to FS98.There are LOTS of add-ons still around for FS98, too.Rhett Rhett 7800X3D ♣ 96 GB G.Skill Flare ♣ Gigabyte 4090 ♣ Crucial P5 Plus 2TB
March 1, 200620 yr Thank you very much for your reply. Can you give some more detail on in what respect fs2000 is inferior to fs98?Pawel
March 2, 200620 yr The STUTTERING issue. The stuttering was worse in FS2000 than it was in FS98, and that was a known big issue back in those days. FS2002 was a major improvement in this regard. And that is the primary thing you want in a flight simulator--smoothness. FS98 will have it on the hardware you described, far more than FS2000.Rhett Rhett 7800X3D ♣ 96 GB G.Skill Flare ♣ Gigabyte 4090 ♣ Crucial P5 Plus 2TB
