March 13, 200620 yr Hi, I wonder if someone can help me out here. Just updated the Omega's from 3.8.205 to 221. Omega say no need to uninstall if already on Omega's. I've done that before with no problem, and this time they appeared to install faultlesly. However, I noticed quite a bit of lag when closing programmes etc., so decided to follow the advise on another thread and uninstalled, ran driver cleaner, then reinstalled. Now I constantly get Found New Hardware on startup, even tho' when I look in properties, it tells me the X800xtpe is running on the Omega 3.8.221. When I point the install wizard at the drivers, even tho' they're there, and the path is correct, it says it can't find them. According to the wizard, they don't exist. Any help would be very welcome. Regards,Russell.
March 13, 200620 yr Hi Russ; Using windows device manager check your video adapter listings. My guess is you'll find multiple entries. Try disabeling the inapropriateones. Also check Fs.cfg for the SINGLE correct listing. When you updatedrivers it'll sometimes leave the old one in so you'll have multiple'slisted. Denny Denny Retired Professional Tourist
March 13, 200620 yr Author Thanks very much for that excellent reply Denny. The correct drivers were shown, with no multiples. However, I did find a couple of yellow question marks in Other Devices. I disabled them and that cured the problem. I have'nt a clue what they are as everything on the computer is working. The details said---DisplayNTATIVMD35 and DisplayNTATIVRV35 both followed with the same string--5&2A17D842&4&80000007&01&00. Your help was much appreciated.Fegards,Russell.
March 13, 200620 yr DisplayNTATIVMD35 and DisplayNTATIVRV35Hi Russell,These two entries are for the WDM function, which all ATI PE series cards have. It is part of the VIVO (Video In, Video Out) hardware of your card. The WDM drivers are avalable here. Click on your OS, then "Radeon", then the driver download (this page happens to be linked to the 6.3's... doesn't matter). The WDM driver package should be between 3 and 4 Mb's (depending on the OS). Remember to enable the Deivces before installing the WDM package.I don't use the WDM drivers, so I disable the VIVO function in the video card BIOS. Don't have to worry about installing the drivers, those pesky messages at start-up, or unknown devices. Modifying and/or flashing the video card BIOS isn't for the faint of heart, though.Hope this helps,Greg
March 14, 200620 yr Author Thanks very much for that info, Greg and Scott. I've wondered for ages what they were, but never bothered as they were never a problem till I used DriverCleaner.Regards,Russell.
March 14, 200620 yr my uninstall goes like this, and ive had zero problems since. run the uninstall program from add-remove programs for omega and anything ati related. reboot into safe mode, and run driver cleaner pro, first cab cleaner and sp2. then add all ati related items to the list and run the cleaner program. then reboot, cancel all the new software popups, and run the omegea installer, reboot, move the fs9.cfg file to the desktop, and start the game. then set all your driver and other settings in game and youre set.
March 15, 200620 yr Author Thanks Alex, very useful. I'll print it out for future ref.Regards,Russell.
