April 27, 200620 yr Hello,Last week I bought the following system:HP/Compaq dc7600SPIV 3.0GHz with Hyper Threading1024MB RamNvidea Geforce 6200 128MBhttp://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/us/en/sm/WF...f56-472277.htmlI installed FS2004 and was hoping for some good results. With as minimal system requirement of a P450Mhz system I figured I could max out most of the sliders. Not quite. The graphics are dissapointing. I get low resolution VC's and ground textures, even if I max out the sliders. Things like that. And when I max out the sliders framerates drop to 5-6fps occasionally. If I switch Anti-Aliasing on, it also gets very slow.I am thinking, a system like this should perform very well, what could be wrong? Thanks in advancePeter
April 27, 200620 yr Your graphics card is low end and is killing your performance. You need a 6600 or better to get FS to fly!Gary 9800X3D | 4090 | 64GB | 2+1TB NVME | 2TB SSD | 2TB HDD | 85/50/43” TVs | Quest 3 | DOF H3 Motion Rig | Buttkicker | T.16000M Flight Kit MSFS @ 4K Ultra DLSS Performance FG 80 FPS | VR VDXR Godlike 80Hz SSW | MSFS VR DLSS Quality, Ultra Preset - Windows 11 Acer Nitro 5 | i5-11400H | RTX 3060 6 GB | 32GB DDR4 | 15.6" FHD IPS 144Hz | 2 x 512 GB SSD | Windows 11
April 30, 200620 yr Author Thanks for your reply.Problem is, my computer has one PCI-E slot in which only a half size, low profile, card will fit.The fastest card I could find online that will probable fit in my computer is an Nvidia 7300GS:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16814121005Can anyone tell me if upgrading to this card is worth the
May 1, 200620 yr Peterlook at my system, i can't put all my sliders to max and my clouds are at the low setting, i still get stutters in FS, i wouldnt call your system anything fast in todays time, you really need a very very fast processor to get anything out of FS2004. May 1, 200620 yr Author Hmm, better stop fantasizing about FSX, I suppose.Anyway, here's what I did to make my system a lot faster, yesterday.I seriously considered putting my PC back on Ebay, so I figured, why not try something drastic.1. Reinstalled Windows XP prof.2. Reinstalled all the (latest) device drivers.3. Reinstalled FS 2004.4. Ran FS2004, got 20fps (limited in the hardware settings) with all the display settings in ultra high mode at a resolution of 1280x1024.5. Switched on Anti Aliasing, resulting in an enormous drop of framerates. When switching Anti Aliasing off again, framerates kept being horrible.6. Back to number 1, until number 4.Now I am happy with my framerates, it is very good, even in the virtual cockpit of PDMG's 747-400. Only when there is heavy weather (FS Meteo) framerates drop, but switching to 1024x768 brings them back up again.I hope this helps someone with the same problems. Is anybody else having such issues with Anti Aliasing?I am still wondering if anyone can tell me anything about the Nvidia 7300GS.Peter
