Tried new drivers-Big FPS gain

Featured Replies

I was also getting alot of shimmering. I read over some post and its seems the drivers increased the LOD which I cannot lower. Well you can lower the mips below 4 but it looks horrible.Yes I changed just about every setting there is trying to find a balance betreen looks and speed. Never could get rid of trees flashing and that rolling shimmer on the terrain.I am now trying their latest nvidia drivers and while the fps is not as high, I got nice looking graphics. The hunt for the perfect drivers continues. I am still getting 20 fps landing at KLAX with good looking graphics. Thats pretty good considering Im flying the Flight 1 md80 with BEV, Active Sky, Flight Enviroment clouds,Fspassengers,Ultimate terrain, FSHOTSFX and a few other enhancements.

I am thinking about going back and trying some 77.xx drivers to see what happens. There is a pause in my FS when the sim loads an airport. For example, if I'm flying at 30000 ft high above KMDW, as soon as KMDW "pops in", there is a noticeable pause. I'm trying to get rid of that...it may be a limitation of the sim...I am not sure. That's the same da** pause that FS2000 had. Exact same. Only with FS2000, it happened when every polygon object loaded. That was the major problem FS2000 had...luckily they put out FS2002 pretty quickly and saved MSFS.Rhett
