Tried new drivers-Big FPS gain

Featured Replies

http://www.tweaksrus.com/index.php?option=...ed&ascdesc=DESCI stumbled across these drivers, Xtreme G Force at tweeks r us.Gave them a try and all I can say is Im getting a major FPS boost. So much so I do not beleive it and trying to figure out whats going on.Using the latest Nvidia drivers, I was getting 15-20 with some stutters with FlyTampa KSFO during taxi,to and landing. Now Im getting a constant 25 which is my lock with no stutters with an occasional dip to 20.About the same at Cloud-9 KLAX and Flytampa ksan. This is flying the Flight-1 MD-80, AMD 3500+,6800GT,2 GIGS with the highest card settings.high density and mid autogen. You get 3 options to load either quality, speed or stock. Ive tried speed which my fps stayed buried at 25 no matter what but it did not look great. Ive since stayed at quality.More experimenting later but they are really worth trying.

"This is flying the Flight-1 MD-80, AMD 3500+,6800GT,2 GIGS with the highest card settings.high density and mid autogen."Still have alot better than before fps. I changed around a few card settings via riva tuner but the only setting I see different is the pixel shader version. Where as before it was force 2.0, now its, no over ride.

What specific version did you download and use to see such a big performance boost?Gary

The latest beta on top.My fps overall are better especially around the addon major airports. However, Im still getting this occasional stutter when starting a turn with the auto-pilot on.My tex-band-mult in my cfg is set to 200. Changing it high or low makes no apparent difference.

Thanks. I'll give it a shot on my notebook.Gary

Did you see a boost? Now If I can solve my sttttutters I will be content. Well at least for now.

I just tried it. I don't think I see an absolute gain in performance but it definitely didn't make anyting worse...I don't think. So I'm keeping it for now. Thanks for the headsup.Jason

JimJam, Thank you so much for sharing. I started using them yesterday, and have to say a big improvement overall. The FPS are better and smoother overall. I have been pulling my hair out with every driver known to man with my new system, and these are the best yet. I actually enjoyed two flights today. One in the Flight1/Coolsky Super80 , and one in the Majestic Dash8. I haven't been able to do this in over two months, so THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!! I am still looking at upgrading my 6800GS pci express to the 7900GT or GTX$$$ as my quest for smooth performance as possible ( or close to it ) continues. Have a good night.

Just trying to earn my keep. Ive been picking peoples brains for years on these forums so If I come across something thats might help even one person I will post it.There are just so many d** variables thats its almost impossible to isolate a setting thats causing problems. Every one says NEVER go above 400 on your texture bandwidth multiplier setting. Well I tried 800 and it eliminated the short micro pauses I was getting on short final. Go figure.Glad they worked for ya. Jim

I am no computer guru, but if you have the cash I would go for the BFG 7900GTX OC 512mb. I got this card last week and I can tell you it has made a huge difference from the 6600vanilla that I had before. I now can fly through multiple cloud layers 40 to 50 fps and very smooth whereas with the 6600 in the same situation it only managed 10-15. CPU hungry aircraft like PSS777 and sceneries(like Aerosoft Manhattan) still bring the fps down into the 20's but this is cpu limitation. It also cured all signs of shimmering this amazed me as I had tried everything to no avail. Haven't tried the extreme driver, I used the latest official driver. Only problem I have is the Aircraft selection menu is now a black box. I think this is a driver issue as had it with my previous card and same driver. 84.something.Current System:AMD 64 3700+ San Diego coreAsus A8n SLi deluxe2gigs Corsair value select memoryBFG 7900GTX OC 512mb video card2 Maxtor ATA133 hard drives (120gb,300gb)Ultra 500w power supplyPlextor 708A DVD writerThermaltake Tsunami Dream case.2 Samsung Syncmaster 19" monitors in span mode 2560 X 1024 resolution.Regards, Carlos

I tried the X Treme drivers...and I didn't see any significant change. I still have some stutters when flying by an airport and the airport scenery (tarmacs, etc.) loads, for example...but nothing like FS2000 (hehehe).I am frame locked at 34 fps right now, and I really didn't notice any change with these drivers. They seem to be about the same as the regular nVidia drivers I was using (81.xx??).I'm messing around with them though. Good find. Here's my short specs: AMD 3700+, 2 gigs ram, eVGA 7800GT w/256.I'm not overclocking the sys right now.Rhett

We have pretty similar systems. I will have to check these out. Thanks for the tip.

Well, the fps are about the same as it was before. The graphics look better up close but I get a lot of shimmering.I have never used tweaked drivers before. Do you leave the settings are they are or do you go in to NVIDIA set up and adjust AA, AF...When I went in there after installing the "quality" version, everything was set to "application controlled." I know this is a no-no so I changed everything. Do you do the same for tweaked drivers?
