August 22, 200619 yr With with the PMDG747, Ultimate Traffic (100% traffic), Ultimate Terrain, GE Pro, FE, Active sky (with substantial Cumulus), FS Global (100% mesh), UK2000 Gatwick Pro, all settings maxed (anti-aliasing on card set to 2X), resolution 3840x1024 and I get an average of about 16 FPS (goes down to 10 and up to 22) on 26L approach. On the FSX Demo I get a minimum of 12 fps sitting on the runway with everything maxed (bloom switched off). It easily goes up to 20 and upwards when not facing any autogen (from the VC). The resolution makes no difference to performance.Incidentally I have had endless trouble with the 7900GT. I had to add extra cooling and be careful about the power arrangement. It will not complete 3dmark2006 with the card overclocked (which it is designed to do). Also it will not run FSX with anti aliasing and antisotropic filtering selected in the card. It must be set to application and FSX set for anti aliasing - the opposite of FS2004.Apologies for the off topic part. Regards Howard H D Isaacs
August 23, 200619 yr There seems to be a lot of problems with the 7900 series, mainly heat related.Looks like nvidia may have shot themselves in the foot with this one....... August 24, 200619 yr Kittie..Congrats on ordering your new system!! One thing I noticed about your list that you may wish consider?? Just like the C2D processors..the motherboards are currently evolving also...I'm personally going to hold out for Asus to release their nForce 590(nForce5) chipset motherboard for C2D...I was initially under the impression they were suppose to be avaliable in the Sept/Oct time frame...I havn't checked recently as to the status...Just a friendly observation...Something to consider??Have Fun!!
August 24, 200619 yr Paul..Your system sure looks good..Looking forward to hearing some feedback when it's up and running!!Have Fun!!
August 24, 200619 yr I don't want to run FS9 in such extreme settingsa 1024X768 with X4 AA and X8 AF would be enough for me...I just want it to be smooth...
