August 30, 200619 yr Okay, I've searched the forum a couple of times and can't find anything here to help me, so I figured I'd ask -I've recently run into a problem with my eVGA GeForce 7800GT. I had it early on with it, but I'd managed to fix it somehow (just went away one day) and it's come back again. The problem is that after loading FS and switching windows, I will get a problem where any modules working on top of FS (like Squawkbox or FSNav) and all ToolTips will cause the screen to freeze below from the top of that pop-up down. It only occurs with FS9 so it's something with it. I've tried reverting back to 77.77 and several others to no avail. I'm currently running 91.31 right now becuase of performance issues the older drivers caused with some other games I have.I've tried dumping the CFG a couple of times to fix it and gone through a couple of "tweak" tutorials to see if they might help, but they didn't.Help is appreciated!
August 31, 200619 yr It is a combination of AA and drivers. Update to the 91.45 drivers and do not go beyond 4x/16x and it should be ok. This is a well known NVidia issue so make sure that in between driver revs you are:1. Removing old drivers2. Booting to Safe Mode3. Run CCleaner 4. Run Driver Cleaner cleaning drivers and .cabs5. Reboot and install new drivers via driver install, not XP hardware install.-PaulPrimary RigLiquid CooledAMD FX-57 @ 3 gigsAsus A8NSLI-Premium2 gigs Corsair XMS PC3500LL 2 3 2 6 1TXFX 7900 GTX 690/1750XFX 7800 GTX 515/135024 inch Widescreen LCDDual 19 inch LCD'sRaid-0+1PCPower and Cooling 1khttp://home.comcast.net/~psolk/3monitorsa.htmlBackup RigAMD 4000 San Diego @ 2.72 Gigs Kingston Corsair XMS CL2XFX 7800 GTX 515/1350 Raid-0 Have a Wonderful Day -Paul Solk
August 31, 200619 yr I too have an eVGA 7800GT, but I have never had any of the problems you describe. It does indeed sound like a driver/AA problem. Worst case would be a heat lockup, but I think that is not likely.RhettAMD 3700+ powered by Gerbil wheel + gerbil, eVGA 7800GT 256, ASUS A8N-E, PC Power 510 SLI, 2 gigs Corsair TWINX, blah blah, etc. etc. Rhett 7800X3D ♣ 96 GB G.Skill Flare ♣ Gigabyte 4090 ♣ Crucial P5 Plus 2TB
September 2, 200619 yr Chris,I have a 6800gt and struggled with this for months trying to use squawkbox3 in full screen mode with dual monitors. I tried every video driver available ( at the time the latest was 82.something ). The only way I was able to cure it was to go back to the 71.89 drivers as was suggested on the squawkbox forums. I'm still using these as I got tired of tweaking and experimenting instead of flying. If you find another solution that works and are able to use later drivers please post it here.Good Luck,Ted [email protected] ghz, Noctua C12P CPU air cooler, Asus Z77, 2 x 4gb DDR3 Corsair 2200 mhz cl 9, EVGA 1080ti, Sony 55" 900E TV 3840 x 2160, Windows 7-64, FSX, P3dv3, P3dv4
September 3, 200619 yr Ted,Thanks. The 91.47 drivers didn't fix it because as soon as I booted up SB3 and ActiveSky, the problem returned. I get the problem when I boot either of them, so at least it's not always happening anymore, but it's still frustrating. Thanks for the help guys. Will report if it solves the problem.
