FSX Can be amazing....

Featured Replies

That default airport in FSX Beta, Friday harbour is amazing. I had texture at 60cm... Boy..It was spectaculor. This is default Fsim. I went and landed on one of the Golf courses there... WOW... I could see the fairway clearly mowed. I could see the tee off spot and the rough and sand traps.. and Lots and Lots trees around. it was truly amazing. I had almost everything to the right. I never could do that with the Dell XPS.Manny

"when the hardware catches up"What are you referring to??

>"when the hardware catches up">>What are you referring to??I'm referring to CPU's and GPU's. No current hardware on the market can handle FSX with full settings. It usually takes a year or so for the hardware to catch up because every FS title that's ever been released hasn't ran smooth on current hardware on release date.

And the slider merely ALLOWS FOR FUTURE HIGHER-RES TERRAIN?Am I wrong on this? Does 60cm look better than 1m slider setting? If so, how can this be?RhettAMD 3700+, eVGA 7800GT 256, ASUS A8N-E, PC Power 510 SLI, 2 GB Corsair XMS 3-3-3-8, etc. etc.

Hi Rhett.I may be wrong here... But I made one change while I was flying the default airtport in the demo. And that change was to move the slider one notch from 1 mt to 60 cm. and I saw the texture brighten up. I am sure it did. :)I may have to go try this out again to be sure. In the meanwhile why don't you try it out and see for yourself. A dbl blind test. Manny

I only have the demo, but I will see if I notice any difference.I thought MS said the 60cm and higher settings were for future advances in the terrain display...But maybe it has some effect on the 1m textures anyway, ???RhettAMD 3700+, eVGA 7800GT 256, ASUS A8N-E, PC Power 510 SLI, 2 GB Corsair XMS 3-3-3-8, etc. etc.
