My system upgrade

3.6 GHz is passing OK, but I am not too thrilled with seeing 70C CPU temp ocassionally, particularly when the CPU fan is running at max RPM (around 2700RPM, but still quiet) AND I don't even have my 7900 GTO in the case yet, which will only add to the hot air mix. As such, I've decided to give my system a bit of head room and will run it at 3.4GHz for now.BTW, I'm pretty happy with my cooler, I've just never had a chip that want to keep OCing like this. Usually I've found that as soon as I need to bump core voltage, the OC game is all over within 100MHz of where I am at, with symptoms like solid locks, random reboots windows system service crashes, etc. This C2D keeps getting me to the windows desktop no matter what I throw at it - quite an amazing chip.Gary

Gary, the 3.6G should be OK I think. Its going that high temp cause you are doing the prime test on both cores at the same time ...right?For FSX I would think, its a non issue since FSX does not use the second core. So a single core at 100% and at 3.6Ghz is great for FSX. Run FSX and see how far your temp rises. It should n't rise that high.Manny

Good point Manny. I shall try 3.6GHz when I actually get to play a 3D game on my new beast. UPS forecast is for a Wed delivery of my 7900 GTO :-jumpy Gary
