October 22, 200619 yr Given a choice I would have gone with the 7600GT, but the AGP models are virtually unavailable here in the US. There are some 7800GS AGP models, but they are so expensive that it would be cheaper to buy an inexpensive PCI-E motherboard and get a 7600GT PCI-E version, which sells for much less than the AGP version does. In my case, I would also have to buy a new power supply because mine doen't have the proper connectors for use with the newer motherboards, so I went with the 7600GS 512, just to draw the line on expenses at a reasonable level. The memory speed is the limiting factor on this particular card, but I think it might be a reasonable match for the rest of the system. If you have PCI-E, I'd go with the fastest card with the most reasonable price. The 7600GT seems to be the sweetest price point. If you have at least 2GB of RAM, I don't feel the 256 video ram of the 7600GT would be a problem.
