January 10, 200323 yr I want to add more options for landing at KDFW but the only file worth downloading uses overlays (actually the KMEM is the same way). What is the procedure for installing these .txt files??? I know how to replace an existing facilities data file with a new overlay but I have no idea of what to do when six overlays are offered in one file. Thanks for any help on this.... January 10, 200323 yr well....by adding 6 overlays to DFW, you would basically then have 6 DFW's. they would all have to be called something different KDFW, 2DFW, 3DFW, etc... You would then have to add all the additional DFW's to your airport.txt file that TrafficTools creates when de-compiled. they would all be copies of the original KDFW info, just named accordingly. After this, you would have to go into your flightplans.txt file and change all your DFW flights to reflect the 6 airports(overlays). how you want to do this is up to you. and example would be something like assigning all AA mainline traffic to 2DFW, all regional traffic to 3DFW, all GA traffic to 4DFW, all FedEx traffic to 5DFW, all others to KDFW.once this is all done and complied, your FS DFW will look pretty good!hope this helpschris
January 10, 200323 yr I may very well be wrong but I thought with AF installer you could just drag and drop the 6 or however many overlays into the window and they were all installed.
January 10, 200323 yr True, but it doesn't add them to the airports.txt so they still don't exist. Furthermore, it does nothing to reroute your AI traffic to the different layers. AI Installer is cool for single layer AFCADS, but layered AFCADS probably should still be done the traditional way. I try and give a good explanation in the Read Me of any of my AFCAD files.
