Best system possible for running FSX

Featured Replies

Hi all,I'm currently thinking of investing in a new system and I've read alot about the various Intel processors on offer at the mo. I was wondering what the best choice would be for running FSX on? Also, what would be the safest bet regarding video cards? Or am I going in the wrong direction and should I be looking towards an AMD processor?I'm not totally computer illiterate but there seems so much on offer I'm finding it difficult to decide what to go for. If it helps my budget is around

The best processor you can get today is Intel Core 2 Duo family of processors.E6300, E6400 or E6600, E6700 or X6800Depending on what you can afford. I got the E6600 and Overclocked it to run faster than the X6800 Stock. This assumes that you also are willing get a new motherboard. MannyPS: IF you already have an AMD compatible motherboard and you are looking for an upgrade...then the answer may change.

I don't know how much 600 pounds sterling is, but the best money-is-no-object FSX setup you can get today, is the 6800 extreme Core 2 Duo, overclock it, 2 gb of quality ram, and a 512mb 7950 nVidia card.If you are building from scratch then I'd build with a Core2Duo, any model, and allow for a little overclockability into the build.Give or take, but if I had to skimp on any one thing, it would be the video card...because in short order you might be wanting a DX10 card.RhettAMD 3700+ (@2.5 ghz), eVGA 7800GT 256 (94.47), ASUS A8N-E, PC Power 510 SLI, 2 GB Corsair XMS 3-3-3-8, WD 250 gig 7200 rpm SATA2, CoolerMaster Praetorian
