December 3, 200619 yr Since FSX or 9 were not developed to take advantage of dual core or multicore, what is the best route to go for a CPU in the foreseeable future? I have an aging P4 [email protected], and at some point will need to upgrade. I will not be doing this in the next 6 months probably unless my mainboard or CPU goes, but with any knowldege of CPU roadmaps, which way would make the most sense?Noel Noel System: 9900X3D Noctua NH-D15 G2, MSI Pro 650-P WiFi, G.SKILL 64GB (2 x 32GB) 288-Pin PC RAM DDR5 6000, WD NVMe 2Tb x 1, Sabrent NVMe 2Tb x 1, RTX 4090 FE, Corsair RM1000W PSU, Win11 Home, LG Ultra Curved Gsync Ultimate 3440x1440, Phanteks Enthoo Pro Case, TCA Boeing Edition Yoke & TQ, Cessna Trim Wheel, RTSS Framerate Limiter w/ Front Edge Sync. December 3, 200619 yr Hi Noel.As of now..the Intel Core 2 Duo family seem to be the best for flight sim (FS9 and FSX).I recently bought the E6600 for around $300.Manny Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter
December 3, 200619 yr Author Manny, to the best of your knowledge, and all else being equal, what sort of raw processing power (useable by FS.x) can I expect with Core 2 Duo over what I have now, running at the 3.5Ghz I have it running at now? I get the sense, percentage wise, that this might be somewhere in the neighborhood of a 20% increase? What do you know? Thanks alot!
