December 4, 200619 yr Hello,So I am having some problems with the VC mode in FS9. I just built this new (but budgeted) system and I would consider it more than capable to display the VC at decent frame rates. Here are the specs on this system:ASUS P4S800D-X MoboIntel Prescott 3.0 HT (overclocked to 3.15 GHz, runs at 55* C while playing FS)1 GB of PC3200 RAM (4x256mb) @ 400 MhzGeforce 7600 GS 256 MB with Latest drivers.80 GB HDD, 2 Partitions...14 GB and 66 GBNow, I can load up the default Cessna perfectly fine and all is well in all Views. The framerate maxes out at the default setting (25 FPS) and runs smooth. Whenever I hop in the PMDG 737/747 or the FFS Saab 340 I get unacceptable frame rates (< 8 FPS). Resolving this issue is very important to me because I am strictly a VC flier. My previous computer, a Dell with 3.0 HT, 1 GB of PC3200 RAM with same video card would yield almost perfect frame rates for me in VC mode of the previous airplanes. I have attached images of my FS Settings and Video card settings if that may help at all. http://dcharles.net/images/GFX/1.jpghttp://dcharles.net/images/GFX/2.jpghttp://dcharles.net/images/GFX/3.jpghttp://dcharles.net/images/GFX/4.jpghttp://dcharles.net/images/GFX/5.jpghttp://dcharles.net/images/GFX/6.jpgThank you in advance, Dan
December 4, 200619 yr if i were you i would untick Transform & Lighting, Aircraft Shadows and definately reduce your 3D Cloud percentage, also you running it at 800 x 600, it will look quite bad, try 1024 x 768 or whatever your monitor resolutions support, but definately higher than 800 x 600 and no lower than 1024 x 768.regards. December 4, 200619 yr I'm not sure how you would consider this an upgrade for FS. Basically the same CPU, same video card and same RAM. I sympathise that you are not getting the same FPS as before, but why did you bother with such a micro upgrade in the first place?Gary 9800X3D | 4090 | 64GB | 2+1TB NVME | 2TB SSD | 2TB HDD | 85/50/43” TVs | Quest 3 | DOF H3 Motion Rig | Buttkicker | T.16000M Flight Kit MSFS @ 4K Ultra DLSS Performance FG 80 FPS | VR VDXR Godlike 80Hz SSW | MSFS VR DLSS Quality, Ultra Preset - Windows 11 Acer Nitro 5 | i5-11400H | RTX 3060 6 GB | 32GB DDR4 | 15.6" FHD IPS 144Hz | 2 x 512 GB SSD | Windows 11
December 4, 200619 yr You show us the global settings in the drive, but they are completely wrong for FS. Fortunately (or unfortunately, depending on your viewpoint) the ACTUAL settings being used by FS are alutomatically included in the latest driver downloads under the PROGRAM settings, which is where you should be adjusting your graphic card settings - look for MS Flight Simulator 2004. FS will ONLY use the Global Setting if you are flying in Windowed mode, which also crucifies our fps in VC mode anyway, so you don't want to to do that.Next, your settings in-game are also not quite right for the hardware - at the least you shold set the filtering to Trilinear, and then control the level with the AF setting in the card driver menu.Try those, and show us the actual settings the card is running under, and we can take it from there.Allcott
December 4, 200619 yr Author Okay...Right now I'm flying with Simple Clouds, and in Windowed Mode...So the resolution is irrelevant. (Running Windows in 1024x768---It wasn't an 'upgrade' I was running FS on my computer for work, and I chnaged jobs so I had to give the PC back. So, I built a 'new' one.---And what do you mean the 'actual settings?'. That is everything that I know about. And I set everything at the bare minimum to try to squeeze out some more FPS, but alas...no avail. Dan
