A note about the TripleHead2Go and FSX

Someone asked me where they could get a TripleHead2Go in Oz and what

hii just got my TH2Go today as well, now i am waiting on my 3 Samsung 19" displays which i hope i will get within a few days,i bought my unit from http://www.digitalyes.com.au i was very pleased with their service and prompt delivery. So i am looking forward in getting my monitors now to see how this new experience is!

Thanks for posting Wizard, each time I read something like this my credit card starts twitching :)I still would be interested to know what the actual width of the image is when at minimum zoom, as I suspect it is less than the 3x45=135 degrees that you would get from Wideview. Just read the aircraft heading from Shift-Z (yeah, it's not just for framerates!) and then use slew with numberpad1 to rotate round to point to an object which was previously at screen edge, and read the heading again. What do you get?Bryn

You'll find it necessary because of the bezels to shift the left and right images inwards 1-2cms depending on the bezel width so that the images have continuity. I'm sure your going to enjoy the experience.Re

I haven't had time to do the test. But believe me when the 3D panel is on that wide screen it does indeed look and feel realistic rather than an image on a monitor. You still need to pan left and right to see out of each side window but it all feels much more realistic because the 3 LCD's covers your side peripheral vision. See the review at flightsim.comYou can also use a TrackIR of course but so far I've ended up with a bad headache with this device. I think the motion sensitivity will need a lot of turning down before I can get used to it - once my eyeballs readjust.

I too have the T-head and you are right about I can never go back to a single monitor. One thing about frame rates. The drop is not that great if you have a beefy video card. At these high resolutions the graphics card is much more important than in conventional FS setups. The conventional wisdom that a video card upgrade only improves video quality and not FS performance because FS is cpu limited does not apply at these resolutions. My performance increased at least threefold when upgraded to a 7900gtx from a 6600 with the same Athlon 64 3700+. Haven't tried Track IR but it is said to work great with the 3 screen setup.Carlos

yes i agree i too think that my 7600GT card is enough to push those reolutions through, i hope anyway as i can't afford to upgrade for another 9 mths or so, spent alot of money on this TH2Go and 3 monitor upgrade, so i gotta hold off on any more computer upgrades.

Yes 7600GT should be enough, I think any of the 7 series cards will cut it. The reason I got the "GTX" (cost me 500$) at the time was I was also going to upgrade the cpu to a FX60. When the new Core 2 duos came out and blew away everything from AMD it was clear that my best bet would be to save up for a whole new system instead. It is a fantastic card and not sorry I paid so much for it even if my cpu is bottlenecking it. I can crank up the AA and AF. Currently I use 4X AA and 16X AF in FSX and FS9. Any higher AA doesn't affect performance much but I get the famous Nvidea black box in the aircraft selection menu in FS9 and haven't bothered to set up individual profiles for each sim. Of course now the pruden't thing if you are going to upgrade is to get a DX10 card like one of the 8800's with Vista on the horizon. I can vouch for BFG cards, they have been good to me so far. I will build my new system in the next couple months probably based on a Core2duo and one of these cards. Regards, Carlos

>I haven't had time to do the test. Aww, come on, we'll even let you win the Ashes! It takes less than 1 minute to do, and would resolve a big question for me.Thanks!Bryn

Regarding the TrackIR, isnt it practical still while having 3 monitors? I'm thinking about the ability to look down and up. There is no need for looking left / right anymore I guess but down/up is still of use or not?

thats correct, you still need TrackIr for those subtle turns in the cockpit and up and down views as the zoom factor of 0.31 is not far out enough for my liking, although its still good.
