Support for wide screen monitor:YES - I own a desktop/laptop with widescreen monitor and need better implementationNO - I don't care about distortion on my instrument panelI vote YES!!Andy

HiI vote YES too..B/Regards..Alex Ooi

What does WideViewAspect in FSX.CFG do? I was thinking of getting a wide screen, if I did I would probably run the panels on different monitors anyway.

I thought FSX already supported widescreen? I've got FSX and FS9 running at 1920 x 1200 on my Dell 24" 2405 no problems, granted the 2D panels in FS9 have the gauges slightly stretched, but I hardly notice, but in virtual cockpit its fine, as for FSX, well I have never tried 2d panels, the virtual cockpit is so good, it also looks great in widescreen.

Thx1137 you're right,FSX DOES support widescreen monitor !Just change : WideViewAspect=Falseto WideViewAspect=TrueIn the Display section in your fsx.cfg file.Hayabusa > Yes this setting does increase the horizontal field of view in VC and this helps. With it off I must set the zoom at 30-40 to have the same field of view than a 60-70 zoom in widescreen mode.Best regards.

This will always be the case until someone creates a 2d bitmap specifically for widesreeen i.e. a 1024x768 pixel bitmap can only appear correctly with a display ratio 4:3Greatest Airliners - DC-8Greatest Airliners - 727 Whisperjethttp://www.dreamfleet2000.com/gfx/images/F...BANNER_PAUL.jpg

Ehrrm,But I think the size or resolution of the 2D panel is determined by the developer not MS?

>Ehrrm,>>But I think the size or resolution of the 2D panel is>determined by the developer not MS?I think that MS can do the biggest work, than the developpers will follow their guideline... ;-)All laptop nowaday have wideview screen and for a simulator that will last probably more than 3 years (as FS9.1 did) cannot be soo old from the beginning without supporting the actual and future(also for desktop its common found wideviwe screen now!) screen ratio, isn't it?Andy

Certainly MS could create widescreen specific panel bitmaps, but that is really a feature that could be/could have been added. Whereas a patch is generally something to fix a problem.Don't forget that although widescreen is becoming more common, this is really something that has happened in the last year or so. FSX on the otherhand, has had no new features added to it for a lot longer than a year. In fact if anything, during the final year before it was released, features were actually removed to get in a working state that could be released.I would also add that although almost all laptops now have a widescreen, this isn't the hardware that most uses of FSX have. That said, a lot of desktop systems are now using widescreen too, but until there's a big call for wider 2d panels from users, you'll be unlikely to see anyone produce add-ons with a specific widescreen option. In the meantime, there's nothing to stop you having a go at editing one for yourself ;-)Greatest Airliners - DC-8Greatest Airliners - 727 Whisperjethttp://www.dreamfleet2000.com/gfx/images/F...BANNER_PAUL.jpg

>The answer is here, by Torgo of ACES team>>http://blogs.technet.com/torgo3000/>>Jorge Rui>>PortugalI'd seen the answer, but is not a solution for a new product like FSX that has years in front, and without this widescreen support it's already old from the beginning since Paul says a desktop as well now start to be sell with widescreen support (also it's one of the new characteristic so advertise from MS and Vista, isn't it?)All the bestAndy

OMGIT DOES SUPPORT WIDESCREEN, but 2D cockpits are dependant on the size of the bitmap that they were created in! What don't you get?If you look at the outside view or the VC then all will be fine. It's only 2D panels that are affected by this.I use 2D panels now that were created for 1024x768 but I use them at 1600x1200 on my monitor. Do you hear me complaining that they look 'grainy' at the higher resolution.... No!

No!>>Of course man no! because your gauges are looking good, doesn't matter if the mipmap are grainy to fly, while on wideviews screen the gauges are strech and with a distorted size and this make a difference in flying, that's the difference between grainy and strech ;-)
