well gentleman i think im going out to get the Intel Core 2 Duo E6700 Conroe 2.66GHz 4M shared L2 Cache LGA 775 Processor or should i get the e6600 chip.also im thinkin of getting the EVGA 122-CK-NF68-AR LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 680i SLI ATX Intel Motherboard, but is that overkill if i dont overclock, all i want is the board to give the best possible speed.and of course the fastest ram out there, as far as the vid card i will be upgrading to the 8800 series.what do you foks think.....Robert

Robert:Sounds like a killer rig. But from what I've read, don't get your hopes up, at least for FSX, as there are people out there with similar systems still barely getting 20FPS in not-so-busy scenery areas and with few if any, add-ons. Some of the tweaks help, but we have a long way to go, which is why I'm still flying FS9. I chip away at FSX every-so-often...but I still have issues with it..we'll see.http://www.my-buddy-icon.com/Icons/objects/red_3d_plane.gifAlex ChristoffN562ZBaltimore, MD

I just posted my specs for my upgrade in another thread. I have kept away from the DX10 cards because they may be out of date by the time the patch for FSX is released.CPU E6700 $799 MoBo EVGA 680i $449 RAM Corsair twin 2 x 2048 6400pro $539 CPU cooler Thermaltake big typhoon $ 79 GPU Leadtech 7950GT 512MB $469 PSU Seasonic 650 W PSU $235 HDD WDR Raptor 10,000 rpm 150 GB $389 Case Antec P160 ExistingDVD/RW ExistingSound card ExistingWindows XP pro ExistingTotal $2959 Australian dollarsFrom what I have seen, the E6600 is not much slower than the E6700, so you could save some cash there if you have to. That said, I think I'd go with the faster CPU if you can afford it. Cheers,Noel.

The e6600 (and even lower models) can be overclocked very easily. Look into that if you want to save some money.I just got my e6600 machine last night and was pretty impressed initially, although I have some tweaking to do. I also need to figure out if I want to risk running at the 1920-1200 of my monitor or run a lower res.But the default free flight was amazing at 24"

It'll rock.My config:Intel Core 2 Extreme X6800 (2.93 GHz--O/C to 3.2 GHz)2GB Mushkin Redline CAS4 DDR2-8000 (1000MHz) RAMeVGA nf68 680i moboeVGA 8800GTX PCIe video w/ 768MB DDR3 RAM150GB WD Raptor 10000 rpm SATA HDD500GB WD Caviar 7200 rpm SATA-II HDDPC Power & Cooling Silencer 750W PSRuns default FSX aircraft at KPHX steady at 25fps with only a reduced default.xml and fiber frame fraction tweak.RegardsBob ScottATP IMEL Gulfstream II-III-IV-VSantiago de Chile
